Almost a Novel,
By
This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
Bucky, the no-redeeming-qualities cat, and Satchel, the loveable-but-clueless dog, are back. In the Get Fuzzy world, cats and dogs can talk and humans have no problem with it. Bucky and Satchel are Rob's two pets and the three of them make a hilarious household. The almost continuous story arc makes this read more like a novel than a collection of individual strips. In this volume you will see such things as: Bucky take on the ferret next door If you liked the other Get Fuzzy collections, you will love this one. If you are new, be prepared for animals that are not as cuddly as those in other strips.

Satchel fix,

This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
Get Fuzzy is the funniest cartoon currently in print and this collection is full of smiles. The only downpoint to this collection is the fact that unlike the first three; this one has no color strips. The Sunday strips are included but they are in black and white. Since they are slightly darker than the daily strips you loose some of the detail and they are a bit harder to see. I really wish the publisher had put the Sunday strips in color but other than that this collection is great! (And includes some classics such as Bucky losing his fang to Fungo the Ferret and Bucky's appearance on Judge Judy.)

Bucky Goes To Small Claims Court!,
This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
I have liked 'Get Fuzzy' since it's inception, and this is the best of the books to date. Darby Conley certainly knows the difference between cats and dogs and why each are lovable in their own way (yes, even uni-fanged Siamese cats)!Of particular note is the Judge Judy series wherein Bucky sues Fungo the Ferret for damages after Bucky loses his fang while trying to snare Fungo. Be sure to check out the Cat and Dog conferences, too! If you like 'Get Fuzzy' or just love animals, you will love this book!

I think I remember my brother falling off the couch laughing,
By The Crystalline Entity (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
My sister gave me this book last Christmas. My siblings and I (we're 13, 16, 18, and 20) had already gotten hooked on the strip through the books we got from the library, and this was the first one we bought. As my title says, I think I remember my brother collapsing off our couch on Christmas Day because he was laughing so hard. It's THAT funny.
"Get Fuzzy" gets better and better as you get to know the characters. I haven't seen such brilliantly hysterical social commentary, flat-out funny nonsense, and humorous diatribes on all life's ills since "Calvin & Hobbes," which I still maintain as the greatest comic strip on the planet. So, spend a little time, get to know Rob, Bucky, and Satchel (with a just a smidgin of imagination, they'll immediately remind you of people you already know), and you'll enjoy this strip even more. Darby Conley is on a roll, and he is a funny, funny man.

There are very few comic strips that I like anymore. In fact, I now only go out of my way to read two strips, and this is one of them.Darby Conley is great!!! I love his work. I was really excited to pick this book up and read of some of the mischief that Bucky and Satchel find themselves in. This even has Bucky going so far as taking the Ferret next door to Judge Judy. The humor is fantastic. The contrast between Bucky and Satchel makes for great comedy. There were many parts where I was giggling and a few parts where I was laughing out loud. I'm looking forward to picking up more of "Get Fuzzy".

Why not this one?,

This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
First things first: This is as close as you can come to a comic that is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. If you are not yet familiar with Darby Conley's wonderful series of "Get Fuzzy" comics, this is as good a place to start as any. While there may be periodic storylines that span several strips, for the most part they are self-contained "day-in-the-life" observations that have, on occasion, made me fall out of my chair with laughter. Sometimes focusing on animal behavior, Conley more often focuses on the character flaws implicit in the dogs, cats and people that populate his strip (most frequently, a cat named Bucky) and their interactions with each other. To sum up: hysterically funny. If you are a dog and/or cat owner (or simply a keen observer of human nature), you should definitely look into "Get Fuzzy" -- why not begin with this one?

Darby Conley, my hero.,

This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
As a kid, I went straight to the newspaper every morning and read the comics. Like everyone else, The Far Side and Calvin were my favorites, but I also enjoyed Garfield, Beetle Bailey, and the others. As I grew up, the two truly funny comics (The Far Side and Calvin) were retired from the paper and I began to realize that Garfield Beetle Bailey and most of the others were only funny if you had no more than a 4th grade education. There was no innovation or storyline and the artists were just rehashing the same old sight gags and puns every day. I quit reading the comics. Then came Get Fuzzy in my LA Times, and whoa, life is good again. Get Fuzzy is the freshest, funniest, and most sarcastic comic written in years. I really look forward to reading it in the morning, and (yes, I know I'm a little geeky about this) sometimes I even go online late at night (early in the am) to comics.com and read what happens the next day. Thank you Darby Conley.

Funniest comic strip around.,
By Mary "Mary" (Napavine, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
This light hearted comic strip has quickly become my favorite and this book is just fantastic. Mark my words, you're going to try to get through the whole thing in one sitting! Especially funny for the pet owners out there, but don't let the premise stop you -- it's one of the best strips out there with sharp wit, sarcasm, and one freaky cat.

Get together,
By Marie Butson (Troy, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
This book is a riot. On Christmas, we passed around to our two teens and all of us were cracking up at Bucky's attitude and Satchel's gentle manner. There's nothing like sharing one of these funnies when the tension gets high, and to have a good laugh. The rejected comic characters and Bucky's "Box o' Pun" are real winners. Our kids' friends get a kick out of this book too. Makes for a fun time laughing and relaxing together!Enjoy and lighten up with Rob and his buddies.

Not for the casual fan,
By
This review is from: Blueprint for Disaster: A Get Fuzzy Collection (Paperback)
This book is not for the casual fan. If you cherish those moments where Bucky says something particularly out there or Rob is particularly sarcastic in his reply, step away slowly. This book is for those who enjoy long storylines that for the most part link together (Bucky spends a week trying to snare, and, consequently, getting his butt whooped by a ferret, which leads him to sue the ferret on Judge Judy). I know that I am not a casual fan, but I still find the irreverent, laugh out loud humor better than long storyliness. If you are like me, I would reccomend Say Cheesy and Groovitude.
