Editorial Reviews

Review

In my opinion, this type of learning and assimilating basic science information is one of the best ways to learn. This novel approach enables me to test my understanding of a subject by reading the clinical case/vignette, then review all the pertinent information, and practice further by answering questions; hence, making it convenient to study. -- 3rd year medical student, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine/MWU The thought questions give you a broader perspective of the case and items that you should be thinking about when coming to the case conclusion. -- 2nd year medical student, University of Illinois - Chicago The basic science review & discussion, key points, and Q & A are particularly helpful and make the book a worthwhile read. -- 3rd year medical student, Temple University School of Medicine The organization of case/discussion/case conclusion/summary points made the text very easy to read and understand. Incorporation of pharmacology and treatment was done well and not usually the case with other review books. -- 3rd year medical student, Brown Medical School These cases are very in-depth, which is excellent for Step 1 review. The complexity is just right because it covers the information tested on the boards. ... This is by far the best review book I have seen, and I have seen a lot of them. It goes really in depth about renal, hematology and oncology that other review books don't. The length is just about right to cover the topic in review and at the same time provides all the key information. 3rd year medical student, SUNY Downstate Overall I think these are superb cases, reviewing exactly the material I saw on Step 1 this past June. The thumbnails are very good, and the key points are great. I like in particular the format of the case presentation followed by the meat of the topic, then a return to wrap up the case itself. Coming full circle in such a way more forcefully draws the student to come back to the concepts being introduced/reviewed. -- 3rd year medical student, Rush Medical College
