Editorial Reviews

Review

"The strengths of this book are its size and Q A format. Clinical vignettes and Q A styled questions allow for more active and focused learning., and there are a good number of images and radiographs. The material and level of difficulty are appropriate for Step 2." -Intern, Department of Surgery, Exempla St. Josephs Hospital, Denver, CO "I think the length of the book is perfect with 200 questions. Any shorter and it would not include some topics critical to the topic and any longer would risk someone not reading it due to time constraints. The book's strengths are the images and the format. The images are excellent." - Intern, General Surgery Resident, Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI, Clinical Instructor, Surgery Department, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI "This book covers a lot of different topics, with a good variety but without neglecting the common problems. In addition, the book gives good explanations for all the answer choices including a detailed reasoning of why the other answers are wrong. Yes, I would recommend this book." - Intern, Department of Surgery, University of South Alabama Medical Center, Mobile, AL

This review is from: Blueprints Q&A Step 2 Surgery (Blueprints Q&A Series) (Paperback)
I bought this book after reading rave reviews [...] about how it's the "gold standard" for the surgery shelf. I do think many of the questions are unnecessarily difficult, but depending on how you look at it that may be beneficial. However my real beef with this book is the unacceptable amount of ERRORS, both typographical (answer choices not matching up) AND content-wise (there are even inconcistencies between Blueprints and this book!) Not fun when you're stressing right before the exam and want an accurate assessment of your status. I absolutely don't recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great review for the Surgery shelf, September 1, 2005

I agree with previous reviewers for the second edition of Surgery Q & A. This is an excellent tool to help you prepare for your shelf exam. You cannot use this book as your sole source of studying for the surgery shelf, but the topics covered are right on target.
