This review is from: The Blues: A Book of Postcards (v. II) (Paperback)
"Stephen LaVere has been taking and collecting photographs since pianist and songwriter Walter Gross (who wrote 'Tenderly') gave him a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye as a gift for his eleventh birthday. Except for a short time in the late 1960s, when he worked as a freelance professional, LaVere has been an independent amateur, totally involved with the music and musicians he loves so dearly. Much of his attention is devoted to documenting blues and its practitioners, and it is part of this work and collection that is presented here. The thirty photographs in this book of postcards, selected from LaVere's extensive and varied collection of portraits and candids, comprise a fascinating look into the world of blues. 30 duotone photographs.
"Pomegranate's books of postcards contain thirty top-quality reproductions bound together in a handy, artful collection. Easy to remove and produced on heavy card stock, these stunning postcards are a delight to the sender and receiver. ISBN: 1-56640-443-6; size: 4 3/4 x 6 7/8"."--© Pomegranate |
