This is great stuff..After the movie, I knew I needed the Soundtrack, but I has pretty much figured on that even before I saw the movie. All the tracks featuring the Blues Brothers Band are great, especially the Perry Mason Theme, and New Orleans. The CD also introduced me to Erykah Badu, who has an incredible voice. Funky Nassau is a great track, one of the best on the CD. Aretha's new Respect version is great, as expected, and Blues Traveler contributes "Maybe I'm Wrong", another outstanding track. Another short, but enjoyable little song is the Car Crash theme from the movie, "Let there be drums", by the Carl LaFong trio. As short as it is, I really enjoy that one! Allso great to have those John Goodman songs, such as Looking for a Fox and Turn on your love light. You really cant go wrong with this soundtrack, I loved it!

I just finished watching the movie Blues Brothers 2000, and have the CD as well. WOW! The movie brought tears to my eyes seeing the FABULOUS Aretha back, and Wilson Pickett and gang performing to a hilarious 634-5789!! And what about Sam Moore and the Godfather?!?! The soundtrack is great and not a disappointment at all for Blues Brothers fans. Sure, it's like any "greatest hits" type thing -- many of the songs you'd love to hear aren't there, but the ones that are there are fabulous! Thank you, Dan, for bringing this to us again.I'm sure those you dedicated this effort to (Belushi, Calloway and Candy) would highly approve...and do. I could tell that the muscians themselves were having a blast, and that's certainly good enough for me! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love my children (5 & 8) growing up listening to this music. Jimmie Vaughn, Lou Rawls, Issac Hayes, Billy Preston, Grover Washington, Jr., Travis Tritt???? Alongside B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Dr. John, Koko Taylor, and on and on. It's too much, really toooooooo much!! Who'dve thought! BOTH video and audio cd are a MUST!!

This is basically my favorite CD, I would have bought it just for the Blues Traveler song "Maybe I'm Wrong" Which is a lot longer and 10 times better then it was on the movie. But I really am happy with all the other songs on it, like Respect, John the Revaltor, Harmonica musings, Let There Be Drums, Funky Nassau, How Blue Can You Get?, Turn On Your Love Light, and New Orleans. I would recommend this CD to anyone.

Don't let the fact that the movie is not all that great deflect you from buying the soundtrack. This is probably the best collection of blues to come out in years(at least when it is related to a movie) It has Blues Travler My impression-The movie may not be up to snuff, but don't let that be said of the soundtrack.

The Blues Brothers Show Band was assembled for comedic purposes, but they were also one of the greatest groups of blues musicians ever assembled. Throw in legends like BB King, Wilson Pickett, Lou Rawls, Koko Taylor, Dr. John and some new kids like Johnny Lang and Erykah Badu, and you can still make a mediocre movie - I enjoyed it but I'm just being honest - but you can't make anything less than a GREAT record. Some of the highlights include Blues Traveler's otherwise unavailable "Maybe I'm Wrong", the hilarious "Cheaper to Keep Her", and - my favorite - the huge ensemble rendition of "New Orleans". I've discovered that this record makes for some of the best road music around and is just a great listen for anyone interested in blues soul and R & B.

This is a good solid album which has the quality expected based on the 1980-era Blues Brothers albums. The biggest complaint is that it does not include the full Taj Mahal cut of "john the revelator" which opened the movie. That was a cathartic, emotional cut, one that transmitted the exquisite pain that a Blues Brothers fan needed to feel about John Belushi having wasted his life through his early death due to drug abuse. The Taj Mahal version was stately and austere and powerful, as it needed to be; it was truly trascendental to sit through it while watching the movie. The longer version on the soundtrack album was merely good solid four-star music.

...Joe Morton can blow a bit. In fact, he helps save some of the tunes that the 'reincarnated' Brothers croon on. I think the better tracks include that treatment of "Funky Nassau" (with the perfection of Badu vocals aiding here), the Louisiana all star band song--how can you not like a tune with BB, Eric, Koko, Lou, Isaac, and all those immortal blues king and queens on it--the Pickett tune and the Sam Moore/James Brown/Joe Morton gospel piece. No disespect to the Queen of Soul here, but, her rendition of "Think" in BBs I was better, in my opinion, than her "Respect" here. It's not bad, though. Also, I've heard much better treatments of "Season of the Witch" than the one done here, but who knows, it may just float yer boat. Having said all that, get the CD for all that tremendous blues and R and Bee greatness packed in one jewel case...

Let The Music Do The Talking,
This review is from: Blues Brothers 2000: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
With 18 tracks that clock in at a little over one hour, the affinity that Dan Aykroyd has for the blues delivers an outstanding soundtrack.
With a venerable who's who of legends - B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Junior Wells, Aretha Franklin, Bo Diddley, Steve Winwood - this is a collection of the sounds and voices from those who shaped the music industry in the latter half of the 20th century. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band kick things off by raising the roof with Born in Chicago, but it's the pair of cuts by the all-star band - Louisiana Gator Boys - How Blue Can You Get? and New Orleans (with the Blues Brothers) which clearly demonstrate the premium that was placed on the music. A great example of a soundtrack that stands on its own merits, Aykroyd opens up the briefcase one last time and lets the music do the talking.

I really enjoyed the movie, and watching it several times, I got into the music as well. I had to have the CD. Normally, I usually don't like buying soundtracks, but this one had a variety of upbeat music, reminding me what was happening throughout this movie.
