Good blues chops, but doesn't really apply any teachings,
By Shane "(Very) Slow Hand" (DC, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blues Chops for Guitar (Paperback)
I found this book to be very good all round book with regards to blues techniques and chops, however thought that it could have been a little more informative with regards to demonstrating how some of the phrases could be tied together.
I know that this comes back to the individual to experiment with different phrasing combinations - but this book seems to be filled with a lot of very short phrases, repeated in various keys on the fretboard. Some longer phrasing examples would have been more useful to me, especially with regards to ammo for my trick bag. I think this book is excellent if looking to improve your technique, not so great if you are looking to see how to make those skills sing once learned. I would however like to point out that the "Rock Chops Book" was an excellent book for both technique and phrasing - and perhaps I was just expecting too much based on the quality of that book. |
