Very Educational and Palatable for adults,
By
This review is from: Blue's Clues - Shapes And Colors (DVD)
These Blue's Clues videos are very educational. They are very fun and very gentle for young children. They are appropriate for ages about 18 months to about 3.
My young girl who is 5 sometimes will watch them with her little brother age 3, but it is not her favorite video any more and she knows all the answers now. This one talks about shapes and colors and teaches a variety of shapes and colors in a pleasing, fun way. It encourages children to shout out answers, look for clues and use their thinking skills to solve problems all while teaching them about colors and shapes. This video also teaches colors not normally taught and how to mix other colors to get new colors. It also teaches different shapes than ones you might expect (polygon). Well worth the money. Enjoy.

"Advanced" for young ones!,

While they are at it, why don't they throw in some decagons, nonagons, hexagons? Little kids absorb this stuff like sponges, the movie teaches parallelograms, trapezoids and octagons! Very entertaining, funny, wonderful learning tools. Shows kids how to make different colors, some are aquamarine and chartreuse. Also teaches the basic stuff, but I would recommend this one because it does teach more extensive shapes. I have never seen a trapezoid or parallelogram in any other video for kids, why not? I didn't learn what those shapes were until I was in middle school.
Highly recommended!

Get to know Joe first,

This is a great title; my children especially like the part where colors are mixed to create new ones. However, I would recomend watching "Get to Know Joe" to smooth the transition from Steve to his brother if your children are not familiar with him.

Great for Learning,

My son is two and has learned so much from this DVD. He enjoys mixing his own colors now and knows just which colors to put together to get a new color. And he's learned new shapes that he didn't know before (and it's just cute to hear him try and say "trapezoid"). As with any show my child watches, I watch with him and we talk about it all. He learns so much more that way. The fact that he enjoys the show makes it fun for both of us.

One of the best Blue's Clues ever!,

This one is definitely one of the most played ever in our house - it entertains and teaches color and shape contents alike with fun songs, games and the usual Blue's Clues clue hunt.
If you're not sure whether this series is for your toddler - go ahead and get this one. The colors are not just the regular blue, yellow and red but wonderful shades like chartreuse and aquamarine :-D As I always watch every video with my kids at least for the first time I highly recommend this one as one of my all time favorites out of the Blue's Clues series and general childrens videos as well.

One of the best Blue's Clues videos in my opinion,

This is a good DVD if your little one needs some re-inforcement on learning colors and shapes. It not only teaches about basic colors and shapes, but uncommon ones also. My 4 year old loves to watch this video and then when it's over, he'll go through the house and try and find different shapes. There is a "game" during the video where you help Joe find different shapes and my son enjoys it so much he continues to do that after the movie is over. Great DVD in my opinion.

Having moved overseas when my son was 8 months old, I have been pretty oblivious to what Blue's Clues was. Now that he's 18 months, I ordered this DVD to help him learn about shapes and colors. It's not a bad introduction to the world of Blue's Clues. I remember baby sitting children during the hey-days of Barney and I found Blue's Clues much more palatable. As for my son, he loves it and bops around to the songs and watches the guy as he names the shapes. It does keep his interest so definitely a winner.

My twins have learned new colors and shapes, from the many taught in this two-part DVD. Who thought a three year old could learn to say "trapezoid"? My son likes to be a "shape searcher" along with everyone in the video, and find shapes when we go places; in fact he saw a "triangle of birds" a few weeks ago (geese flying in a V formation).
