4.0 out of 5 stars Buy this one for the correct audience/purpose, January 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue's Clues - Telling Time With Blue [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I thought that my five-year old son had outgrown the fine library of Blue's Clues videos when I saw this one. Mistakenly, I purchased it to help him learn to tell time as he was interested and ready to learn. This video is fine for helping children develop the concept of activity-related time throughout the day, but not what I was expecting or in the market for. Blue's Clues helps to develop so many skills that are often ignored in early educational efforts including excellent critical thinking and conceptual skills. However, it is important to purchase the video for the correct audience. This title was misleading to me, although the video would be valuable for a younger child who has yet to master the concept of time throughout the day. (I have rated this video according to it's intended audience - for the purpose of teaching 'telling time' it simply isn't helpful.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable, February 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue's Clues - Telling Time With Blue [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was a bit skeptical about this one, as the subject matter didn't sound very appealing. But, my toddler is fascinated by clocks, gears, etc., so I checked it out from our local library. I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed this video as much, or more, than the others in the series. The first episode lays out concepts relating to clock recognition; understanding the difference between seconds and minutes, and so forth, in a very entertaining way. The second part of the video is an older episode - less technical about clocks/time, but introducing concepts of different times of the day (i.e. nap time, lunch time). It's absolutely adorable, featuring a "skidoo" jungle segment that my son loves.
Truthfully, I don't allow my son to watch very much tv, but this is one of the few shows I do recommend. I admire the creativity and thoughtfulness that goes into every Blues Clues episode, and, as a former preschool educator, I recognize the solid educational value as well.
I am currently a stay-at-home parent, and I purchase videos from this series just as much for my own resource library as for my son's enjoyment. I have gotten countless ideas from these videos for craft and cooking projects, as well as clever ideas about how to present/teach different topics to my child. And,last but not least, I have learned how to draw everyday objects with a crayon! Now that alone is worth something!

Any of the Blue's Clues products are well worth introducing your child too. My son has special needs and is 12 but still loves and learns from Blue every day. As an author of children's books I am constantly thrilled with amount of knowledge he picks up from these selections.

4.0 out of 5 stars created interest in telling time, February 12, 2010

This is more motivational than instructional. I had bought Munchkin math "Telling Time" last year, and my kids were too young to fully grasp reading a clock. It sat on the shelf until Telling Time With Blue rekindled their interest. So it was like a 2-for-1. We're still working on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blue's Clues- Telling Time, April 21, 2009
This review is from: Blue's Clues - Telling Time With Blue [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This was a good movie to introduce telling time to my kindergarten/first grade special education class.
The kids enjoyed the video, but it is not a serious lesson on time. I feel it is good to use to help give children a prior knowledge of the subject of time, for children of a young age.
