5.0 out of 5 stars Rarely far from my CD player!, October 3, 2001
This review is from: Blues for Daze (Audio CD)
Whether you're into blues-rock, acoustic blues or powerful ballads with more than a hint of AOR/melodic rock, this is the album for you. It has something for everyone - inspired songwriting from Mark Mangold, superlative guitars from Al Pitrelli, a rock solid rhythm section courtesy of Chuck Bonfante and Mitch de Stefano, topped off very nicely by the fantastic vocals of Danny Vaughn.

Think Black Crowes, Paul Rodgers/Bad Company, a little Zeppelin and maybe a hint of early ZZ Top (La Grange/Tres Hombres days) mixed in for good measure and you're just about there.

Rock out to "Feel the Power", "Shake your Tail Feather", "Blues For Daze" and "I Know Where You Been". Chill out to the beautiful "Bed of Roses", "Jenny Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "Man Enough". And if you aren't drumming your fingers within seconds to the intro of "Boogie Chile", you just aren't human!

Slip this in the car stereo, crank up the volume and hit the open road! Bliss.

I've listened to this album over and over and can appreciate it tremendously. Here is a fine collection of well crafted songs, beautifully arranged, played and sung, mostly in a rock vein, with some blues slipping in. There a few nice, to say the least, ballads, a couple of hardrocksongs and also a really heartbreaking acoustic song "Voodoo Moon" (the name says all) with plenty of guitars in place, swirling organ and piano (mostly combined). This band (as far as I know they didn't come up with a following album) and album deserves far more credit than I can give. Listen for instance, to name a few, "Boogie Chile", a fast rocker, "Jenny Doesn't Live Here Anymore", a fine emotional laden song and the closer "Judgement Day", which reminds me, lyrically but also from a musical point of view, to the also shortly existed bands Asphalt Ballet and Badlands. You can't compare these bands on every level, although there are plenty of similarities and all of em have (an) outstanding album(s) on offer. Highly recommended!
