The repertoire almost exclusively focuses on Jimi's early numbers, the "Are You Experienced?" songs we all love, staying true to the originals he probably sat and played along to as a kid. At the same time he is Gary Moore and infuses his own unique style, not least in the long, beautiful "Red House".
Backed competently by Dave Bronze (Procol Harum, Eric Clapton a.m.o.)on the bass and Darrin Mooney (Primal Scream) on drums everything get a further infusion with the appearance of original Hendrix musicians Billy Cox and Mitch Mithchell for 3 tracks. Although Mithchell's playing is a bit rusty still its the "real thing" as Gary says.
Two late guitar heroes and a joy for lovers of power trio, clasic rock and the glorious days of psychedelic guitar.
On overall, Gary Moore brings Jimi Hendrix's great blues rock music back to life in this tribute titled 'Blues For Jimi' which fans of both legends could be pround of. A recommended CD listening.
Gary Moore's fascination with guitar is similar to Jimi's but a world away in Ireland.Perhaps not so far in spiritual terms and whilst exposed to a more restricted songlist, he learn't that very well. Indeed well enough to be considered as one of the 5 or 10 greatest hard rock players ever, and in a space and time where there were hundreds of thousands of fantastic musicians.Gary's unimpeachable brilliance, awesome physical power so admired far and wide earn't him the respect of guitarists everywhere. You could see it,feel it,HEAR it. This was no featherweight touch with a flexi plectrum on light strings, this was awesome physical power and it sounded like Charles Atlas on the guitar.Gary's vast reserves of technical ability, accuracy and a special, Irish melodic gift that sprinkled his riffs with dangerous intent and solos with a melodic beauty so few Hard Rock guitarists have.Perhaps only SRV and Steve Morse have the same absolute physical strength, and sounded like they do.Read more ›

As always Gary Moore impresses with his world class guitar playing but I feel his style does not fit well with Jimi Hendrix's songs.Published 12 months ago by KM152
