5.0 out of 5 stars Technician - Magician, the CD to listen to a hundred times
So, if you'd like to know what a straight blues harp can do - get this. Jean Jacques makes it happen. Prepare for the unheard. First you think: Wait a minute, he imitates Sunny Boy! Then you know: He improves him. Sorry, Sunny Boy! This guy is simply incredible. Even if you think you are a smart guy - you would have to listen to some tracks a dozend times to realize what...

3.0 out of 5 stars This blues harp album has no soul...
Jean Jacques Milteau has excellent technique, and plays quite well, but the music on this cd lacks soul, lacks the soul of the blues.

It might be the production, I don't know. Maybe if you saw J-J live, with a really good blues band, he might be worth listening to. But this album doesn't do anything for me at all. As a student of the blues harp, I am...

As a student of the blues harp, I am motivated to hear all blues harp players. So I checked this out, and it just doesn't cut the mustard.

If you wanna hear blues harp, may I suggest:
James Cotton
Sonny Terry
Little Walter
Sonny Boy Williamson
etc.

This isn't a BAD album. It's just that there are so many better ones; life is too short for bad blues playing.

Or, are ten men playing on ten Hohner Special 20s at the same time? A harp storm. Any style, any blues. No cover versions. Pure energy. Accompanied by brilliant musicians. Fine art. Don't hesitate. It's worth the bucks. And don't forget to boogie.
