4.0 out of 5 stars good for all levels of guitar player
the book in this duo is pretty basic, although the blues isn't very complicated anyway. But the c.d. is great to jam along with. It allows you to jam to a wide range of blues songs. this is great in stretching you abilities.

3.0 out of 5 stars Blues? Perhaps.
These are nice Jam Trax, but not Blues. Well, at least not the type of Blues I am currently interested in. Almost rock-a-billy or beach music-ish. Perhaps Swing Blues, but sho-nuff not Walking Blues.

These are still OK trax, but I have put them to the side until my interest (or skill set) changes. If you want real Blues try Band In The Pocket #1. It contains...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as advertised, August 26, 2004
This review is from: Blues Jamtrax (Paperback)
This book and cd are exactly what they claim to be--jam tracks. They are not method books or references, they simply provide you with one of the easiest ways I have found to practice and have some fun at it. The chord progressions are basic. They give you "tips" and the positions of the scales, along with extensions into the next scale forms. They don't claim to teach you to play blues guitar or how to develop your own licks. They just provide backing tracks for you to practice with. It won't take long before you begin to learn what sounds right, using the scales and patterns provided.

The tracks are in a variety of keys and different tempos. Some are slow and mellow blues others are fast and upbeat. You need a basic understanding of your guitar and some concept of scales. You will also need some basic chord knowlege and basic scale playing dexterity. This book/cd should be considered supplementary tools to your current method books or personal instruction.

As I said, that is exactly what the title and cover advertise it to be. JAM TRAX -- something to use to practice. However, for the beginner to early intermediate player, these are really a lot of fun and easy to pick up on. It is money that will be very well spent. I am going to purchase some of the other "Jam Trax" to add some more variety. As long as you don't expect them to be more than a practice tool, you will be delighted! I got exactly what I expected out of it. Worth every penny.

Great basic tracks to solo over. Nothing fancy but perfect for beginner's who want to improvise over some varied 12 bar stuff.

Exactly as titled! Backing tracks to play over... nicely done with a great booklet explaining suggestion as to which parts of the scales to use with each track and progressions through the track... You will learn from this book and even enjoy just playing to the songs if you already think you got your scales down pat...covers a variety of beats per minute and scales, great improvisation tool. Also includes the chords so you can eventually just team up with friends and play the whole song without the backing tracks.. I now own six from this series and they all are very well done and worth every penny.

These are still OK trax, but I have put them to the side until my interest (or skill set) changes. If you want real Blues try Band In The Pocket #1. It contains several real Blues trax. BITP is still not perfect, but does contain my current style of Blues liking.

The above rating goes for More Blues JamTrax also. It is just "more" of the same. Sorry, I just don't care for swing....
