Editorial Reviews

Fantastic Piedmont Acoustic Blues Guitarist Archie Edwards performs with Richard "Mr. Bones" Thomas featuring Mark Wenner on harmonica. Edwards passed on in 1998 and with him went another strong link to a traditional blues form played in the Piedmont Mountain area that, unlike the Mississippi Delta, had no where near the number of players in 1960 when blues revivalists began to listen once again. Richard "Bones" Thomas plays the scrub board. Edwards was known to call his music "East Virginian" for where he himself first heard the style. His songs are drawn from traditional American folk music. Born in 1918, Edwards passed on in 1998. There is a Blues Heritage Society that was then established to insure the continuity of his music and his name.

Sonically Fantastic! You will not be disappointed! All the Maple shade recordings sound great. If you like the old style old school blues this is it. I'm not sure how old this recording is but it sounds as though it is 50's blues BUT recorded better than most of todays releases. I would highly recommend this CD to any lover of the blues.
