5.0 out of 5 stars Red Hot Rockin' Blues!, July 29, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Blues Tracks 1 (Audio CD)
Pat Travers is one of Rock and Roll's great unsung guitar hero's.
He is at the top of any list when it comes to hard rockin' blues guitarist... and this CD just further supports that claim.

"All killer and no filler" as they say...not a bad tune on the whole CD, as Pat never holds back and rocks at full tilt through out. His send up's of classic tunes are sharp and original and check out the PT tune..."calling card blues"...most excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Travers is back on form., June 10, 2000

This is a truly excellent Travers album. It features a new version on Statesboro blues from "Makin Magic". Also it also has some eclectic choices for blues standards. If you like "In your face guitar rock" under the guise of a blues album this is the one for you. My personal favourite is Calling card blues. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty Blues/Rock Collection, October 3, 2008
This review is from: Blues Tracks 1 (Audio CD)
This CD is awesome! I wasn't sure that I'd like it, as I've been a Travers fan since 1976 and love his hard rock sound, but I was pleasantly surprised! From the opening track all the way through, there isn't a single cut that is weak. I'd recommend this CD to any fan of blues/rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best blues/rock CD of all time!, August 21, 2004
By
This review is from: Blues Tracks 1 (Audio CD)
This is my all-time favorite blues/rock CD and I don't say that lightly. I'm a 51 year old blues/rock guitarist myself, and have seen and heard them all, beginning with Hendrix live back in '69. Pat has been a great influence on my playing and singing for many years, and is without a doubt the most underrated singer/guitarist of my generation. I agree with the other reviewer who said "There's no filler on this CD." Well that's the understatement of the year! Every single song is good enough to be a spine-tingling encore at a great Travers concert! I was playing this in Yahoo voice chat this afternoon and the people went crazy about it! Every time I would stop they would beg for more! I play music in there a lot...it is a regular room with good friends from all over the world, and we meet there every night and day. Pat has a certain funky style of singing and playing hard rock that I've heard with no one else, which is very rhythm and blues inspired. His natural ability to add just the right feel to the song, results in his version of a song sounding much better than the original. I can't say enough about this CD. Please get this... if good funky blues/rock moves you in your soul. You will be so appreciative...you'll include me in your will! I just put on the first song "Memory Pain" and a big smile just came across my face! It always does! Thank you God for pat Travers and this wonderful CD! AMEN.

5.0 out of 5 stars the beginning of Pat's journey into the blues, September 5, 2009
This review is from: Blues Tracks 1 (Audio CD)
This is where it started for Pat Travers and his long journey back into the blues .... Travers style of course (would you expect anything less from this innovator of aggressive electric blues) .... mostly covers here, but very fresh interpretations of some well known classics and some obscure gems. One Travers original (Calling Card Blues) shows how well he can blend and adapt his writing to that of the greats ..... he also re-records Blind Willie McTell's "Statesboro Blues" (made famous by the Allman Brothers) ... this was done by Pat earlier in 1977 on his Makin' Magic album... this newer version clearly outshines Pat's earlier attempt at it and blows the Allman Brothers' version right out of the water .......

5 stars for Pat and for Mike Varney for rescuing Pat from obscurity .......

4.0 out of 5 stars It is certainly full speed ahead in the name of power blues, May 26, 2003
This review is from: Blues Tracks 1 (Audio CD)
If you like power blues (a blend of blues and heavy metal), this album is absolutely for you! Pat Travers has chosen great songs to cover and it is full speed ahead all the way through this album. Even if Travers doesn't sing as good as Glenn Hughes, David Coverdale or Paul Rodgers, it's certainly suitable for this approach. For fans of Rick Derringer's more recent stuff, this is without doubt a treat.
