Product Description

The G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy is a factory-modded version of Leo's final word on the traditional single-cutaway bolt-on guitar, and the semi-hollow version takes it further with G&L's distinctive twin voice chambers and f-hole added to a beautiful swamp ash body. Like its solid-body stablemate, this axe delivers a well-balanced pairing of a G&L alnico humbucker designed by Paul Gagon and a single-coil G&L Magnetic Field Design bridge pickup designed by Leo Fender.Framed in a classic boxed-steel bridge, the single-coil MFD bridge pickup delivers crisp attack with complex harmonics while individual brass saddles offer modern levels of intonation refinement. Flip to the neck bucker and you'll discover all the charismatic warmth you could ask for. Put em together and you'll find yourself immersed in exploring the limits of this guitar's surprising versatility. What's more, the semi-hollow body softens the midrange attack, accentuating the low and high harmonics.Case sold separately.

If you replace the stock humbucker (designed by Paul Gagon - G&L engineer) with a Duncan Seth Lover humbucker for ~ $120, you will have the same electronics as the American-made Bluesboy for a savings of ~ $500 - $900 dollars. I'll wager the American made Bluesboys sound better than the Tributes, but $900 better? Hell, that extra $900 would allow you to buy another Tribute and upgrade it, if necessary.

My "review" is based on YouTube reviews and playing a couple of these in local music stores. I plan on getting one in early 2016.

Though mostly a bass player, I've been taking guitar lessons and my teacher/friend is a long time guitar tec with an impressive resume. Any guitar I get I bring to him to set up. This guitar has become my favorite. Easy to play, great sound (I play mostly blues) and minimal set up (for me) required. I love this guitar. One suggestion: ANY new guitar, have the intonation adjusted. This is usually off in that company's have them use a "template" to set the intonation. It's normally real close but you'll definately notice when you start to do recordings. It's an easy fix for some one that knows how. Did I say I love this guitar?

I love it. It sounds good plays good and very pretty. The only bad thing was I had to take 1 1/4 turn off truss rod it was really tight. After setting it up its a nice guitar for the money. I wanted to buy the American make model but I plan on using it to play out and was worried about spending $1500 on a guitar that's going to be on the road. The tribute was a great compromise in price for a guitar I know will be abused. I enjoy playing it and would recommend this guitar to anyone.

Very clean playing with a good setup. The humbucker really warms up the sound and the bridge pickup has enough bite behind it to grab you. The finish on the neck is awesome, really easy to move up and down with slides. It is better than any MIM telecaster I have ever played and rivals many of the Americans.
