4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, works with linux
I got one of these to add bluetooth to an older laptop. Running RHEL4, RHEL5, and Fedora 6, it was simply plug and play. It also works just as well on my mac.

The range isn't the greatest but the price can't be beat.

1.0 out of 5 stars to old to work
I was so excited about buying a dongle but very upset that it didn't work. It was to outdated to work on the newer items. I will say one good thing about this transaction, was that when I told the company about it not working, they immediately refunded me my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Could not make it work on my system, could not uninstall either. No documentation included., July 10, 2008

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, to add bluetooth acess to my desktop, because my new glucose meter is only capable of being connected via Bluetooth. My doctor suggested it as a quick simple way to get access to the data stored there.

So I ordered this bluetooth dongle. It arrived quickly, no documentation, just a bare mini-CD and the dongle.

I assumed that it would load drivers automatically, it did not, in fact when I went out and RUBBED the OS's face in the software, it would not install. I tried runing all sorts of processes, it would not install. First I said search the web, to the installation wizard, then tried to browse to the location, and it said there is no software there. So I tried to run the exe file my self, it installed but the dongle did not start up, show an led, nothing. So I tried to uninstall it. I got an error on some doc file it was trying to remove from MY directory.

So here it sits, next to my keyboard, as I enter this review, not even useful as a paper weight. Most drivers on the disk are for Win 98 to use, which makes sense, 98 needs a driver where XP does not to read a drive like this.

But after I searched high and low with no information from the source, it took on a life of it's own. I looked in the USB 2.0 directory, and worked my way through yet MORE 98 drivers, tried both the U and M subdirectories (no, U and M are not helpful names either) Until I found a setup.exe file. I started it up, and it installed. I looked down the LED on the dongle was not lit. It appered confused, so I started up the application, which at least, appeared on my start menu. It did nothing. So the only other thing was the uninstall, which I tried to run.

Still it did nothing.

Nothing, but a complaint about some file in my Documents not giving it access. It's still out there as I type this.

It's not even fun to do the parking lot fling test, this thing is so light that you get no distance.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! It may be only a pittance but it is YOUR pittance. This thing is useless, extremely frustrating and a waste of a good USB port.
