5.0 out of 5 stars What DOESN'T GE do well???
General Electric...I don't know about the rest of you, but upon seeing who made this item I thought to myself 'Really? They make cellphone accessories now?'

Yep. They do. And they make them well.

But not only that, they perfected a concept I'd always been hoping somebody would - a bluetooth headset that allows you to simply swap out AAA batteries...

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay
I purchased this for my husband who does not have a great track record with electronics. Pretty soon he started complaining that he had to constantly change the battery. For the most part it was very clear and the reception was good.

General Electric...I don't know about the rest of you, but upon seeing who made this item I thought to myself 'Really? They make cellphone accessories now?'

Yep. They do. And they make them well.

But not only that, they perfected a concept I'd always been hoping somebody would - a bluetooth headset that allows you to simply swap out AAA batteries at will. Who wants to be talking on their bluetooth and suddenly the thing just dies on them in the middle of a conversation? Well...now you need to charge it until eternity. And, of course, the day finally comes when the piece of trash battery included with the headset only holds about 5 minutes of juice. Who wants that? With the AAA battery, it never wears out, it's not all that heavy, and you can replace it whenever you like in about 5-10 seconds. If you're really good you can do it one-handed while driving!

When I said GE perfected this concept, I was serious. The only other AAA-operated bluetooth headsets were both made by Motorola (there's one that runs on a AAAA battery, but I don't feel like spending $15 on a battery that's weaker than a AAA, nor do I feel like smashing open a bunch of 9V batteries to GET AAAA batteries). I own both of the Motorola versions, the H300 and the HS805. The H300 was their first attempt, and it's alright. I could run with it on, but it was incredibly quiet, the earpiece didn't insert into the ear, and it had a tendency to echo the other person's voice back to them. The HS805, the so-called 'upgraded version' of the H300, was simply a piece of junk. It had all the problems of the H300, plus it would fall off my ear if a gust of wind passed nearby. It had all of the problems of the H300 and no improvements whatsoever.

Enter General Electric. This bluetooth you're looking at right now - do you know how many of those problems it has? None. Zero. Zip. And using a long-life AAA battery, it has a MONTH of standby time. 30 DAYS. I hardly need to keep AAA batteries in my car with a life like that, but I do anyway. No echo, no discomfort, yesterday I ran 6 miles with it on and only needed to adjust it 3 times when it wiggled itself loose. It inserts into your ear so you can hear it extra well, and the earpiece is vertically adjustable to your ear's length. The earpiece also allows the weight of the device to be shared between your ear canal and the top of your ear. My ONLY complaint on this device is that it seems to have a difficult time filtering out wind. So outdoor use requires you to face a different direction and while driving you need to point your A/C vent away from your face. Not even a big enough deal to warrant 4 stars, in my book.

The best bluetooth on the market, IMHO, is less than $35. The choice is clear. Hope you all enjoyed this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with PS3!, February 6, 2009

I bought this bluetooth headset for use with my PS3. The two devices had no problem syncing to each other. A quick test of the mic sounded clear. The AAA battery is actually a nice feature to have for a gaming headset, because there won't be any down time waiting for the battery to charge.

This headset was far cheaper than the official bluetooth headset for the PS3. Thumbs up.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked well for awhile, then quit..., May 8, 2009

This headset worked well for about 3 months, then simply quit. While it was working, I liked the convenience of the AAA batteries and the sound quality was passable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Erratic performance, April 29, 2009
This review is from: Ge Bluetooth Headset Replaceable Aaa Battery (Office Product)
I bought the GE Bluetooth to pair with my Motorola E815 phone, as a replacement for a broken Motorola H800 Bluetooth, which was expensive but only mediocre in performance. When the GE is working, it's great (but with no noise cancellation, so the least wind makes it hard to understand at the other end of the conversation). The problem is, it behaves very erratically: I will turn it on, and one minute later, it turns itself off. Or, at times, I will speak very clearly the name of the person I am calling, and there is no response from the phone whatsoever, as if there was zero audio input.

I do like the fact that the volume can be turned up loud. The sound quality at my end is fairly clear, but a little muffled; at the other end, people tell me the sound quality is very good. It cost me under $20, including shipping, for a new unit, so the price was right. It would be nice if it were more consistently operative.

I forgot to write a review about this when it came in. This is a good, cheap item for use with the PS3, worked with no issues.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Effective BT Replacement, September 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ge Bluetooth Headset Replaceable Aaa Battery (Office Product)
I was so upset with Jabra BTs... the batteries went dead within a year. Despite the fact that they had some features that I really liked, that the GE does not have, constantly buying a new BT every year was getting expensive.

The GE BT with a battery replacement I can install whenever necessary is amazingly easy to use. It uses a AAA battery that lasts so long, I can't imagine how many hours I have already had on standby and for talking.

The GE has very excellent clarity on hearing and speaking. The volume is easy to control and just the right strength. I have a Thunderbolt and have never had any problems pairing the device with the HTC. The distance for talking is almost 60 feet, and whenever I am further away the BT gives off a little beep to let me know I am not in range.

The only drawback I experienced is that, unlike the Jabra, I cannot listen to music on the HTC, but perhaps I have not yet learned to sync that particular app.

I am very, very pleased with the GE. I took one of the many ear plugs I have obtained from Jabra over the years, attached it to the GE ear plug, and have much better sound loudness and clarity. I am sure that everyone's ear canals are different, and this particular addition has enhanced the GEs functionality and usefulness.

I wish that Jabra sold something similar, and I am glad GE was there to save me money and hassles over the months that I will enjoy this wonderfully new technology. GO GE!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars AAA BlueTooth Headset, January 18, 2010

I think that ALL BlueTooth earpieces should run on one AAA battery. Forget the chargers, connectors for them and a dead battery that you can NEVER replace.

I bought 2 as gifts. One person loves cooking while on the phone. The other still has trouble pushing the button for the correct length of time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the One You're Looking For, June 7, 2009

I ordered this bluetooth because the price was reasonable.

After receiving I noticed the sound quality was not that good and it really wasn't comfortable on the ear. It's in the junk drawer right now gathering dust!

This is a very good set. The sound is very clear. I thought I would prefer to just install new batteries when the old one dies but I think I might like a rechargeable one instead. Also the battery cover is really, really hard to get back on.
