This item was an absolute waste of money and I'm all the more irritated for having purchased it. Upon attempting to merely insert the device, the outer case of the dongle split open. What I discovered? That cute little 'antenna' doesn't actually connect to anything! It's just a piece of plastic that hangs off the side!

When I finally managed to get the damn thing running (the installation was completely unintuitive and required repeatedly attempting the same actions to so much as pair/connect a device) it worked fine - once. I turned off my laptop, removed the dongle, and was amazed to discover that subsequently my computer failed to recognize the device at all.

Do yourself a favor. Shell out the extra 15-20-30 bucks or whatever and get a decent 2.0 bluetooth usb adapter. Don't make this mistake.

I encourage many to stay away from this usb product; like previous reviewers said, just spend the extra money on a better usb dongle. As soon as i got this thing out of its package, i almost snapped the casing off due to its poor construction.
The main problem that i have experienced with this product is that although its range is ok(not the 100 meters that it claims), as soon as i go into a room thats only 10 feet away, has doors or walls in the way, the reception starts to fluctuate in and out every 2 minutes.

Poor construction, software that is difficult to install, unable to run when installed, and requires you to purchase a license to get a working copy. Buy something else that actually works.

I am not using this bluetooth dongle because the accessory software was so darned difficult to set up. Instead, I cut my loses and purchased a different dongle which was truely plug-and-play.

When I saw the price I said WOW.

That was about all the good news I had since, other than it works.

Since then I've had (and continue to experience) several times when it hasn't connected properly. Restarting the computer fixed that.

So far it doesn't work with the Sony Ericsson's SOFTWARE to connect via bluetooth (but that software's GUI is VERY poor itself). I had to run an update for the Nokia's SOFTWARE to get it to work.

The BIGGEST problem is you cannot update the (IVT) Bluesoleil software without "registering it" for $20.00 as it doesn't come with a registration key at the initial purchase.

The product works, but the software that claims to be windows compatible say's it is not when installing. Caused a lot of annoying delays when installing. Set system restore point before installing. Software hasn't caused any problems yet.

The external antenna is a plastic decoration only and does not do anything functional. False advertising?

This may actually be the worst product I've ever purchased from a commercial vendor.

I purchased it because I wanted to connect and transfer files with my Nokia 6600 phone. I liked that it had an antenna (more on that in a bit) for extended range. Somehow I didn't notice the poor rating or reviews.

Upon taking it out of the packaging, I noticed that the "antenna" was just flopping around instead of sticking up as an antenna should. And something about it didn't feel quite right. So I popped the case open. Yup, not an antenna at all. It's simply a plastic stick, connected to nothing at all. While it was open, I noticed that the main "chip" on the adapter's circuit board looked, well, used. There was leftover adheasive around the sticker that was on it, as if somebody peeled off an old sticker and put a new one on. Even the new sticker looked damaged.

Installation, or my attempt thereof, was equally horrible. The driver disc was obviously a 3" CD-R. The label simply had "Driver" printed on it, with a drawing of... two sheep. The non-label side was blue, just like the blank CDs you get at WalMart or whatever. Very classy. After 20 minutes and several "Software not compatible with Windows XP" warnings, I got a connection with my mobile phone. The connection got weak if I moved the phone more than 2 feet from the adapter, and at no time was I able to transfer any files. And I know that the problem does not lie with the phone.
I havn't bothered with this thing since.

Read these reviews. Pay attention to them. Then buy a different product.
