Product Description

When a premiere magazine runs a story about a high-profile celebrity, there is only one photographer they call: Nigel Parry. His brilliant lens has captured the most powerful politicos, the most famous celebrities, and the most beautiful beautiful people of our day. His in-your-face style and exacting precision yields portraits like one has never seen.

His newest project, Blunt, is a deluxe volume with over 145 iconic images, each in Parry’s signature style—intimate, honest, and wholly original. His photographs feature the best at their best, including Ewan McGregor, Russell Crowe, Jimmy Fallon, Renée Zellweger, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Brad Pitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Matt LeBlanc, Tom Hanks, Samuel L. Jackson, Meg Ryan, Regis Philbin, Christina Applegate, Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, Gael García Bernal, Cate Blanchett, Michael Caine, Hayden Christensen, Ellen DeGeneres, Edie Falco, Susan Sarandon, Ralph Fiennes, Keira Knightley, Nathan Lane, Denis Leary, Ray Liotta, Liam Neeson, Cynthia Nixon, Ed Harris, Joaquin Phoenix, Mario Van Peebles, Dennis Quaid, Christopher Walken, Ed Burns, Ben Stiller, Kiefer Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Ike Turner, Wesley Snipes, Mark Wahlberg, Dustin Hoffman, Bruce Willis, Javier Bardem, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ahmed Chalabi, Hillary Clinton, Monica Lewinsky, Condoleezza Rice, Paul Wolfowitz, Saul Bellow, Norman Mailer, JK Rowling, Paul Theroux, Graydon Carter, George Lucas, Lennox Lewis, Shaquille O’Neal, Twyla Tharp, Harvey Weinstein, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Shania Twain, 50 Cent, Mos Def, Fat Joe, and Ja Rule.

His images of famed cultural and political figures have appeared in W, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Esquire, Premiere, InStyle, Newsweek, Time, The Sunday Times of London, and Amica, and have been exhibited worldwide. In May 1999, he became the first portrait photographer invited to exhibit at the Cannes Film Festival. His recent awards include the Hasselblad Master Photographer, Photo District News Award, and several from American Photography. His books Sharp (powerHouse Books, 2000) and Precious (powerHouse Books, 2004) have both received wide critical acclaim. Tom Ford is among the most highly respected and successful designers today. During his remarkable ten years as Creative Director of Gucci Group, sales increased from $230 million to almost $3 billion, making Gucci one of the largest and most profitable luxury brands in the world. Just one year after his dramatic departure from Gucci Group in 2004, Ford formed his own company and created his own brand. A beauty and eyewear collection launched in 2005 and a much anticipated menswear collection will debut this fall. He is the winner of numerous design awards.

Roger Rosenblatt is a journalist, author, playwright, and teacher. He has received a Peabody and an Emmy Award, as well as two George Polk Awards, awards from the American Bar Association, the Overseas Press Club, and others. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Images, Plenty to Look at, Inspiring, December 13, 2007
By Justin Jones (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I don't know anything about Nigel's background and have never met the guy (hopefully I will one day)....but just by looking through the images in the book it's easy to assume he's great to work with and is the kind of guy who can get even the hardest people to soften up, the most powerful to submit, and the average looking to display amazing beauty.

And the great equipment he uses is worthy of his talent. The images are tack sharp (just look at the detail on Sean Connery's photo). Through his lens Nigel gets the viewer face-to-face with some of the most powerful and famous people in the world, subjects who are rarely seen in such a tight and up-close point of view. However he doesn't shoot everything this way so it's not at all repetitive going through the pages.

I just got his book, Sharp, which so far I really like but not nearly as much as Blunt. This book is amazing and as a photographer myself I find so much inspiration looking through his images that I can't decide whether to turn to the next page or pick up my camera. Nice work, Nigel...keep it up!
