I am not a major league gamer and I may very well be the worst online racer ever! But that doesn't stop me from trying new things. I used to be great at Gran Turisimo (sp?) on Playstation (not 2 but 1). The next racing game I tried was Burnout but I didn't have the internet. I was pretty good. But when I got my 360 and got online with the same game. I was ALWAYS in last place. Then Burnout Paradise came out and now I had to drive around a city. I like arrows and directions and a track, not free open space. I like arcarde, blowing stuff up and dodging things, taking shortcuts! This all come in BLUR. I bought split/second first because I didn't like the beta of BLUR, and that game is okay compared to BLUR. I got BLUR yesterday and became addicted. I haven't been addicted to a racing game since Burnout Takedown on PS2. I love the style of the game. It feels very sleek and the cars look amazing. The career mode I never really do because I always lose, but even with my horrible driving I came in first on some races. The games is so fluid in motion and easy to play that even when I came in last, I didn't mind pressing retry. The career seems like it will get more difficult, pitting you again 20 CPU drivers. But I was glad to see my ranking for career didn't really seem to effect my ranking online. I started out a rank 1 and ending in rank 4 in one hour (even when I lost I got points!). The one person talking was very nice and it seems less skill driving then good timimg and hopefully some good aiming. I don't know how to drift for anything on this game, just can't do it! But I still came in 1st once. I will stop rambling on and give some pros and cons.
Pros 1. Fluid motion 2. Powerups (all of them) are fun and usefull 3. No great skill needed 4. Style is top notch 5. Great looking cars 6. You can customize powerups (damage and such) 7. You rank online is seperate from career 8. Fun enough to press retry if you fail 9. Haven't tried this yet but - Local multiplayers! Cons 1. Hard as...to drift! 2. Too much down time to reset your car if turned around 3. This really isn't a con but (Hard to dodge the missle like fireball coming at your from behind!!!!!!)

To being, this game is amazing. It combines the elements of a Gran Turismo with a Mario Kart. The only reason it is lock Mario Kart is because there are power ups that can used throughout the race. The power-ups are: the shunt (just like the red turtle shell), barge (which strikes any opponent near you), mine (which is just like the upside down question mark box), shock (which launches three balls at the person in 1st place to damage them), nitro (which is just like the mushroom in Mario Kart), bolt (which is like the three green shells in Mario Kart),shield (makes you impervious to any damage), and repair (which completely repairs your cars health).
I consider myself to be a very good racing gamer, but this game on normal is very, very difficult. It will take you multiple tries to win the race or complete the challenge. It is very frustrating to say the least. I have been playing for a few months and I still haven't beat it yet. The gameplay and graphics are incredible. The details on the cars are very good. There is a numerous selection of cars you can choose from as you get further and further along in your Career. Overall, this is a very good game that you should definitely buy if you are into arcade-style racing games.

this game is not for the simulation racer fan. this is just a flat out fun arcade style racer that specializes in chaos! if you love hectic racing while blasting other cars out of the way and at the same time avoiding getting taken out then this is the game for you. solid frame rate, great animations and tons of modes and options.

Multiplayer is just amazing takes skills to get first place and just shooting at people is fun but still need to keep up to finish: ) story line is alright nothing much to talk about it but the multiplayer is great especially 20 people in one race = Destruction

A fun take on racing. Not only do you have to win the race, you need to earn fans by destroying cars that are racing against you.
A lot of fun for people who like racing games but don't want to drive in a circle for 4 hours. Graphics are good and the gameplay is sweet.

This is a great game for the entire family! And for $12, I couldn't go wrong. Once you get the hang of the powerups and how to switch between them while driving like a madman, it is all out FUN! The graphics are great and the challenges are hard which will add to the longevity of the game.
Achievements seem to come fast and furious (pun intended) which is also good. Overall, I really like the game since it's not so realistic like Forza, and it's not totally arcade style like NFS. It fits nicely right in between them both.

We purchased a Nascar game with our 360, but hated to find out we could not race eachother. This has been a lot of fun playing, both one two or four person.

For mario kart's fans, and need for speed, this is a very good game wich joins the best of the two kinds, as really cool offline multiplayer, a big variety of cars available and full speed action. This doesn t have the best graphics in the world, or music, but the special fx are amazing. i love it since i get it in my hands.

point blank... this game is one of the best racing games ever. ive been addicted for almost a year now and dont see myself falling out of this addiction anytime soon, if ever. the graphics are amazing. people complain that they never get to win in a race with 20 ppl, but u just gotta know how to set ur mods right and use ur powers correctly. they have a great selection of cars and race tracks. the loading time can get a little annoying, but the time goes by quick if your talking with ppl on live. its all worth the blur experience, and i definitely recommend this game to anyone looking up to spice up the racing experience.

I like the concept of this game. There's a nice balance between the power ups and they add a bit of chaos to the racing mix. In execution, I have some problems.
There's three types of races (races against opponents, races against the clock, and races where you try to destroy enemy cars). I find the destruction races the most boring; maybe if they had a fight to the death against the computer instead of just trying to rack up points? I find the game a bit hard on Normal. I constantly seem out classed by the oponent's cars on straight away, but grinding through the races over and over to get a better car is boring as hell. I put it on Easy, but that's too easy. I'm constantly coming in first way ahead of the pack, taking away the fun of the power up aspect and making reaching fan targets difficult. I do like the challenges that you need to unlock to get to the one-on-one boss races. Those add a nice variety to the game. I played a little bit of multiplayer. It's was a so-so experience. I didn't feel too outclassed by the majority of players, which was fun, and it's way more chaotic than the single player mode. On the other hand, you start back at level 1 (your career progress doesn't carry over), and you are forced to grind your way through the races again to get better cars. Starting a race was also a bit of a pain. It takes too long to vote on a track, then pick a car, then wait for everything to load. It feels like 1/4 of your time is spent waiting for the next race to start. |
