When I purchased my BlackBerry Playbook, I knew that I would need a case. I decided to carry the Playbook (carefully!) without a case for a few weeks, while I did some research and decided what type of case would best fit my needs.

After some careful comparisons, I chose the Blurex case - and I don't regret it. This case offers good protection for the Playbook while adding very little bulk or weight. One of the great advantages of the Playbook is its compact size. Unlike some other cases, this case doesn't significantly increase the size of the Playbook or make it awkward to hold or carry.

The corner clips that attach the case to the Playbook protect the corners of the tablet and provide impact protection if it is dropped. The sides are open to allow ready access to the volume controls, charging port and USB port. A cutout allows the rear camera to be used without removing the Playbook from the case, while the screen is uncovered to allow full use of the Playbook's gesture based user interface and the front facing camera. (As with most tablet cases, this case should be used in conjunction with a high quality screen protector. A screen protector is not included with the case, and should be purchased separately.)

The construction quality of the case is very good. The leather used is of a good quality and the seams are well stitched and even. The clips attach the case firmly to the Playbook without making removal difficult. The construction appears to be quite durable, though after only a few weeks I really haven't had enough opportunity to test the durability of the material and construction. My only concern is that the relatively thin leather on the corner clips may wear through in time, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon, if ever.

This case looks good. When closed it looks very much like a high quality memo pad or journal. It's right at home on a desk or conference table.

When open, the case can be folded back to allow the Playbook to be used easily in pad mode, or used as a surprisingly solid stand to hold the Playbook at one of three angles for easy viewing of movies, video conferences, etc. It's very quick and easy to open the case and get the Playbook into action when I need to access it quickly. The case even folds back far enough to allow me to use the charging stand for the Playbook without removing the case, though this requires about six inches of clear space behind the charging stand.

The Blurex case is obviously designed for the type of environment found in homes and offices. It isn't designed for use in really tough environments where protection from water, large amounts of dust, or other environmental hazards is needed. If you plan to use a Playbook during the midst of a whitewater rafting trip, or on a construction site, this isn't the case for you. It's probably also not a good case to choose if you expect to drop your Playbook regularly onto hard surfaces, since it provides some impact protection but not as much as most of the thicker, bulkier cases. If your Playbook is used in a typical home or business environment, however, this may well be the best case available at any price. The fact that it's considerably less expensive than many of the alternatives is just a nice bonus.

I spent more time searching and reading reviews of various covers for the Blackberry Playbook, than I did for the actual research on the Playbook. I can say without hesitation that this product does everything it is designed to do and with great flare.

All controls and connection points are accessible - it is hard to believe that some covers have to be removed in order to charge the Playbook - but not this one, regardless of the position you are in - the Playbook can be charged.

The ease to which this cover opens and closes would make one think that it will come open during handling and possibly allow the Playbook to fall out - but that is not the case. The tabs that hold the Playbook in as well as the tabs that hold the cover shut are tensioned perfectly - not too tight and not too loose.

I could probably go on for some time as to how nice this cover is, but I will not - I will just say one more thing. You will get this great cover and it is not going to cost you a ton of money - and that just adds to the overall rating.

Great product for a great price.

I spent a lot of time looking for a case for my Playbook like many others. I purchases the Otterbox and DODO case (both $60) for my Playbook before finding this. Both were nice cases for certain things but soon as I got this case I haven't put my old ones back on yet. The size of this case is great and doesn't effect my typing in portrait or landscape like the others did. I love the snap shut and feel of this case and after a few days it opens and closes a little smoother since I have broken it in.

Overall for the price of this case and the quality this is a perfect buy for anyone with a Playbook. I also liked that this one didn't come with a logo branded on it. Found alme others on here that did and that was what made me go with this one.
