5.0 out of 5 stars This store needs fixin', March 26, 2006
Perhaps the Dead Milkmen gave the best ever review of the oeuvres of Mr. Mojo Nixon when they immortalized his body of work in the also immortal referential work, 1988's "Punk Rock Girl"

"We went to a shopping mall
And laughed at all the shoppers
And security guards trailed us to a record shop
We asked for Mojo Nixon
They said he don't work here
We said if you don't got Mojo Nixon then your store could use some fixin"

"Punk rock girl
You look so wild
Punk rock girl
Let's have a child
We'll name her Minnie Pearl
Just you and me
Eat fudge banana swirl
Just you and me
We'll travel round the world
Just you and me
Punk rock girl"

Perhaps this is too deeply personal, but yet when I was courting my wife, after establishing that she too was a believing and practicing Catholic, I played for her the above tune, and she asked for further information on Mojo Nixon. I played for her his work, and she laughed appropriately at "Elvis is in Nutty Buddies." I then returned to the original theme of the evening's entertainment by playing her "Bitchin' Camero" by the Milkmen.

Needless to say, it was only our third date, yet these albums were placed on "random repeat" and obvious supplemental entertainment ensued.

We now both enjoy our marriage and growing healthy happy family that favors a lack of pretentiousness and a refined appreciation for low-rent irony. We have the work of Mr. Mojo Nixon to thank for much of that attitude. You would do well to acquire the same mojo by purchasing and listening to this excellent album.

Mojo & Skid are the perfect mix of Weird Al, James Brown, The Blues Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and a free spirit that create a one of a kind sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars What happened to my Lincoln Logs?, June 17, 2005
This CD features Mojo Nixon's best known song, the classic "Elvis is Everywhere". Other then that, there are a lot of other goofy rockabilly songs here. Most of them are fun, although Mojo does have a rather juvenile sense of humor. Two songs are sung by Mojo's partner, Skid Roper, and they are fun, too. If you like silly, goofy rockabilly, you will dig this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frat House Junk....

This reminds me of the music we might play at the frat house before, or after, study hall - or weekends after a few beers. Read more
