5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
I love this Finger Saddle! It really does improve the way that I hold my flute. I have really long, skinny fingers that make it hard sometimes to keep a firm grip on my flute while playing harder pieces and this makes it easier and more comfortable to play my favorite pieces.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems solid, but will not fit a flute with a C# trill key option
I was satisfied with the general construction, look, and heft of the saddle. However, it would not fit on my flute because I have a C# trill key option, and the large C# vent hole will not accommodate the saddle.

I also purchased the thumb rest to experiment with. So far, results are favorable. If you don't have a C# trill key on your flute (most student...

This review is from: Bo-Pep Flute Finger Saddle
I was satisfied with the general construction, look, and heft of the saddle. However, it would not fit on my flute because I have a C# trill key option, and the large C# vent hole will not accommodate the saddle.

I also purchased the thumb rest to experiment with. So far, results are favorable. If you don't have a C# trill key on your flute (most student models and intermediate models don't come with this option, and even pro flutes generally have to have the option ordered as an add-on), I'd give it a shot. It's a relatively inexpensive way to increase comfort. And if it doesn't work for you, it's a fairly cheap experiment. Low risk, high potential for reward.

I've heard from some users that these Bo Pep finger rests and saddles would scratch the body of the flute, but the plastic finishing on the product does not seem inclined to scratch my flute so long as the rest is applied carefully (don't just SNAP it on, be gentle).

3.0 out of 5 stars Great support, April 25, 2010

I got this support thinking that it would help in supporting my left index finger. You see, I have an terrible infection & I had the first joint of my left index finger remove. As such my LH index finger is shorter. It did'nt help much & I decided to switch over to support my RH thumb instead. I found that it worked great in supporting & stabilising the instrument!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good support & a comfy rest for the left index finger...just be careful putting it on, as the fit is tight - scratched my flute!, November 10, 2011

Summary: Use for (used) student flutes only. Potentially scratches.

Provides excellent support for the left index finger. It's a saddle as both ends of it is raised thus providing a groove on which you rest your left index finger. A clever fix to an anotherwise unstable grip for beginners.

Beware however!

Due to design cut, I found it to be a very tight fit for the flute. One needs to put it on very carefully esp on expensive flutes.
Upgrade: Minus 1.5* for scratching your flute - I've just discovered a few months on that both the saddle and the thumb guide scratches!
Also the flute feel more playable after removing them.

Otherwise 5* =(

I bought this hoping it would help relieve some index finger pain I was having. It did wonders! I never knew a little gadget, like this, could help in such a big way! Yes, I would highly suggest it.
