Great for review, but not to learn info for first time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Board of Registry Study Guide: Clinical Laboratory Certification Examinations (Book Only) (Paperback)
This book is filled with actual test questions and the answers. This is not a place to find explanations, however, of those answers. The discs are great for preparing for how the test is actually administered. Great study guide for all certification exams, such as ASCP and NCA.

This book is very helpful to students who are studying medical technology or clinical laboratory science. Offers excellent review for the ASCP Board Exam. It has review questions and answers in all the core subjects (Microbiology, Immunology, Hematology, Blood Banking, etc.) The book also contains software that tests your knowledge on these subjects at random. Definitely, a great exam study guide!!!

good but not complete,

I found this book helpful and precise but then again, just like other comments, this book doesnt come with explanations. Reader would end up wonderin' mostly on questions which you would really wanna know how they got the answer. Also, I really hope, this book would get newer edition.

This book was highly recommended by our school's faculty. Great for reviewing and practicing for the ASCP. However, the disk tends to ask the same questions for every session.

This book has definitely helped me get a good idea of the kind of questions that will appear on the actual registry exam. It is also helpful in the sense that it answers some FAQ's about the exam itself so that you know what to expect when you take the it.

This book is actually a good as a practice test for anybody taking the ASCP exam or even the state exam. It's worth the money and everyone, experienced or non experienced in the field should check this book out.

These may be the right kind of questions needed to be studied... but this book is not very conducive to studying because there are no justifications of the answers... partially helpful, but cumbersome to learn from.

This book is full of real exam questions from the Board certification exam, however there are no explanations for any of the answers. Works well for a practice exam situation, but if you want something to really help you study i suggest "Clinical Laboratory Science Review, A Bottom Line Approach"

Wait for the 5th edition!!,

I am a university course developer and MT(ASCP)and am using this, along with several other sources to develop content for a CLS program. I do agree with some of the other reviewers who stated just giving the raw "A,B,C,D" answer in not that helpful. ASCP should follow the lead of the NCA, AMT, and other commercially available reviews and give explanations for the answers. I do appreciate the breakout as to MLT/CLT vs. MT/CLS for each study area. What I cannot understand is that this review is over 13 YEARS OLD! I know ASCP is coming out with the 5th edition in July 09, but having a span of 13 years between editions is just unacceptable for a professional organization like ASCP. In those 13 years the profession has changed logarithmically and to publish and sell a review that is that outdated is totally unacceptable. My advice to anyone interested in buying this book is to wait for the 5th edition which should contain sections such as molecular studies, flow cytometry, and lymphocyte subset studies just to name a few (which are woefully underrepresented in this edition).

Lots of Questions!,

If you want lots of questions to practice with than you will love having this, however wrong and right answers are not explained. I used the study cards more often and the online practice questions were of more use.
