Product Description

Super-Wide Angle Lens: The 2.6 mm Board Lens provides an extra-wide field of view, which is ideally suited for most installations. A 2.6mm lens will bring you closer to the action than a wide angle lens, and when used with an IR Camera, it will not cause glare from the IR light, as a wide angle lens will. All IR Camera manufacturers recommend using a 2.6mm Standard Board Lens or higher for use with their IR Cameras

These are not 2.6mm. I bought 2 of these lenses last year from uxcell and they were indeed 2.6mm. The view was about 110 degrees. I was happy with those lenses, so I ordered 4 more this past week to replaced the 3.6mm lenses in 4 new CCTV cameras. Unfortunately, these new lenses are not the same as the ones ordered last year. Physically when I put them side by side they are different. When installed in the camera I'm only seeing 75-80 degrees, so when placing in the corner of a room, there are blind spots that shouldn't exist.

There was nothing wrong with my camera systems I just wanted a little wider view of my porch, It was either this or a new camera, I'm glad I could save the money and outfit the entire system with these when it would have cost me this 10 times as much for a new camera.

Pro's
easy to do ( note the threads on my old lens were galled into the threads on the body, did not seem to pose any issues with the reverse install, but it did take a pair of pliers to get the job started IE get the old lens out. )

Cons:
none really it may take some time to get the right focus point

Comment:
There were some comments about the IR LED's bleeding over into the picture, my SVAT cameras came with a soft plastic washer just in front / on the side of the lens cap that prevents this. so its not really fair to say that this lens causes these issues, the camera you have does! there are work arounds as others have posted... it may be an issue or not depending on your camera system.

BOTTOM LINE:
I just ordered some more, hope they get here soon !

The stock cameras that came with my Z-Modo 8-channel CCTV system had a very narrow field of view and I really wanted wide angle cameras to cover more areas of our property. Replacing the cameras would have been quite expensive, so I decided to try lens replacement first. Changing the lenses was very easy, a simple screw-out/screw-in operation. Sometimes the spring had to be discarded in order to be able to screw in the lens enough to get the image in focus, but this was only a problem the first time it happened (took some fiddling before I figured out that the spring was fully compressed and was preventing the lens from being screwed in any further). There was some IR light bleed into the image due to the wide angle of view (mentioned in some other reviews); I took care of this by cutting short sections of black conduit that fit around the lens to block the IR light. Other reviewers used black electric tape, but since I had some thin conduit handy I just went with that.

Would have given 5 stars, but docked one due to the workarounds that had to be done, and also because of loss of image in the corners (show up as black areas, probably due to the extreme wide angle).

I got a camera with the 6mm lense by mistake but was a great camera. But 6mm was zoomed in not a wide angle lens. so I got the 2.6mm lens and worked. Now camera zoomed out. Cost only a couple bucks for this lens so made cheaper to just change out the lens. Awesome.

These little lenses are a great way to upgrade a standard security camera to better fit the needs and coverage you need for that camera. I needed to upgrade two 50 degree standard cameras to cover an area that needed about 120 degrees of coverage.
Two of these cheap lenses and about 10 minutes with a #1 jewelers screwdriver did the job. Once the lens is installed, you connect the camera to your system and adjust focus - so, hopefully you have a spare cable to use for that. Other than that, it is a piece of cake! They may be listed as for 1/4" or 1/3" cameras - I used both types on my 1/4" camera system just fine.

Worked perfect in my Foscam 8904W, I just removed the old lens and screwed this one in place. You will need to boot it up inside and get the focus adjusted before you seal the camera back up. It gives it more of a wide angle than the standard lens, its not hugely different but maybe adds 10-15deg on either side to the view. It makes that camera much more usable on my porch, which is a tighter focus area.
