Product Description

Amazon.com

Snowboarding is all the rage both on the slopes and on console systems, so why shouldn't the Game Boy Color get its very own snowboarding game? Despite the graphical limitations of the format, Boarder Zone manages to pack more than 20 tricks--performed by using various button and control pad combinations--and several courses into the game.

Choosing from four cute boarder characters, players race on five unique courses. Gamers can race a computer-controlled opponent, race against the clock, or thrash out as many tricks as possible. Other racing modes include challenge, practice, and a race ghost mode in which players compete against saved single-player races in an attempt to improve their best times and scores.

The game's graphics are colorful, if a little on the flat side. Racing doesn't exactly provide a rush, but Boarder Zone's steadier tempo makes the fun tricks that much easier to set up and pull off. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Full repertoire of tricks
  • Cute characters

Cons:

  • Flat graphics
  • The action is rather slow

Product Description

In what is being billed as the first snowboarding simulation on the Game Boy Color, Boarder Zone will put you on some fresh powder with some fast boards--but it's up to you to get the big air. Choose between four characters, each with different abilities. You can try out more than 20 tricks such as grabs, spins, and flips. In nine game modes, you'll race other boarders, shoot the slalom, and compete in the trick attack. Also, Boarder Zone can provide you with a Race Ghost, your own personal racing assistant, who will show you how to take the humps and flip the dips.

1.0 out of 5 stars First attemp at snowboarding on GBC Terrible January 26, 2000

This game is terrible. Ok so you thimk how bad could it be? The track is completly straight, no turns at all. You can't even tell that you're going down hill, it's just flat! And you can't play 2 player over link cable. Graphics are average and the only difference between course are the positioning of obstacles such as rocks and trees. The only good thing is the jumps, you can do about 10 types of tricks, and you can race the computer. If you're a fan of snowboarding i suggest wait for the next one.

This game provides a backside view which enables you to see your every move from McTwists to 1080s. This is by far my favorite game. You can choose the boarder zone, playing-or riding- your way through different events.

Ok, here's the deal, this is the best GBC game I have, it has huge spins to rodeo and mictwists. If you don't have this game you're missing out! I bought it just a month ago and I can't stop playing it! It's got four sweet characters and there's stuff like race attack, trick attack, and boarderzone. You better get this game!

Well since it is the only snowboarding game available for Gameboy Color I have nothing to compare it to. It is pretty fun, but there is boring graphics.
