Book Description

March 28, 2000
From the Boardroom to the Bathroom is the definitive humor book about the 20-something-year-old male. Written by Jason Brenner, whose work has been published in several metropolitan daily newspapers, From the Boardroom to the Bathroom discusses the crucial parts of a young males life: sex, beer, and gambling; yet it doesnt neglect the completely secondary and unimportant parts: relationships, working, and family. From discussing the lump he found on his left testicle to recounting the awkwardness he felt at his high school reunion to describing the proper way to use a corporate mens room, Brenner pulls no punches as he explains what goes through the mind of a typical 24 year-old male. No topic is left untouched: his relationship with his girlfriend, his feelings about visiting his parents, even his thoughts about his toilet. (As you can tell, this Brenner guy is strictly a class act). From the Boardroom to the Bathroom is a must-read for anyone who wants to learn how to communicate with a 20-something-year-old maleor for anyone who wants to read the pathetically honest accounts of Brenners humiliating life."...ingenious...A head-scratching sign of the times" - Doug Roberts, Philadelphia Weekly

5.0 out of 5 stars Outrageously funny!, May 10, 2000
This review is from: From the Boardroom to the Bathroom: Ramblings on Life by a Typical 24-Year-Old Male (Paperback)

From the Boardroom to the Bathroom, by Jason Brenner
Writer's Showcase, Lincoln, NE, 2000

This is a hilarious read. Jason Brenner is a "typical 24-year-old male." He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May of 1997 and currently works for a marketing company in Connecticut.

From the back cover:

"From discussing the lump he found on his left testicle to talking about his high school reunion to describing the proper way to use a corporate men's room, Brenner pulls no punches as he explains what goes through the mind of a typical 24-year-old male. No topic is left untouched: his relationship with his girlfriend, his feelings about his visiting parents, even his thoughts about his toilet (As you can tell, this Brenner guy is strictly a class act.)"

Of course, Brenner himself wrote the foregoing blurb, which is indicative of the kind of fevered mind that wrote the book.

Although his book purports (tongue-in-cheek) to be devoted to the project of passing on his hard-gained wisdom to those younger than himself, because the things discussed are not taught to them in the institutions of higher learning from which they are soon to graduate, it is patently obvious that young males in their late teens and early twenties will not be his primary audience. They will be drinking beer and partying, not reading books of humorously paternalistic advice from those two or three years older than themselves.

No, this book is destined to be read by the author's seniors, who will look back fondly at those years of exuberance, youthful hubris, overconfidence and enduring stamina, when their own perspective promised eternal youth, and those over thirty were considered to be "over the hump" and even the thought of ever reaching such an advanced age as sixty or seventy seemed utterly preposterous, or at the very least an eternity away.

It is a funny book. In fact, it is hilarious, if not always in exactly the places where the author intended it to be. Rather, it is the author's own attitude and outlook that provides the best laughs, for his extreme youth shines throughout the book, and offers a constant supply of smiles.

I heartily recommend this book to all those who would look back and remember their youth--their callow youth--when the world was their oyster and all things were possible; look back, and smile, and sigh thankfully. Thankful that those frantic, uncertain times are finally behind them, sink back on the couch comfortably and enjoy the sunset.

Try it! You'll like it!

4.0 out of 5 stars From the Boardroom to the Bathroom - Unbelievably Funny, May 3, 2000
This review is from: From the Boardroom to the Bathroom: Ramblings on Life by a Typical 24-Year-Old Male (Paperback)
I recently read "From the Boardroom to the Bathroom" and couldn't put it down. A book has never made me laugh so hard, and the best part, it is almost all true, I hope (or this guy has a really screwed up mind!). Being a 25 year old guy, I could relate to almost everything Brenner talks about. Also, this book would be a great gift for any girl who has a boyfriend in their 20's, it would provide some insight. This book was so good, I will read it again when I have kids in college. At that time, this book will probably scare me out of my wits. All in all, a great read!
