I'm rehabbing an Achilles tendon that's been sore for months, and this slant board has been very useful in the healing process. After just a couple of weeks, my Achilles pain has been nearly eliminated.

For lower leg stretches, if you keep your knees locked you'll stretch the upper calf (gastrocnemius muscle). If you bend your knees a bit the stretch moves down to your lower calf and Achilles. You can also use the board for traditional or eccentric calf raises, for strength training.

My routine (after warming up with some walking) is 2 minutes with both legs locked, to stretch the upper calf. Then one leg at a time, for 2 minutes each, with knee bent, so I get a good stretch in the Achilles.

If you're a runner who has had lower leg problems (that's me), this slant board may help you to improve flexibility and strength.

It's very stable in use, and folds up flat for storage. And unlike using stairs, it allows for a safe, controlled degree of stretch.

This is the same slant board that was used in my Physical Therapy, and which was very useful and effective in stretching my Achilles tendon, and gastrocnemius and soleus muscles (in the calf) -- all of which had tightened as a result of a specific injury (and which can and does happen in conjunction with injuries that affect one's ability to ambulate, and specifically, to take 'normal' steps [i.e. if/when one's gait is affected in such a way as to result in one not using the musculature of the lower leg in what would otherwise be considered a 'normal' fashion], the consequences of altered & restricted [and especially 'non'-] use of various muscles and connective tissue can result in a kind of cascading this-affects-that -type impact, and affected structures can atrophy and/or 'shorten'/tighten, due to their not having been 'recruited' as they otherwise would be, if one had been using them as one previously had).

In addition to the experience-based effectiveness I'd known with use of this specific product, a key reason that I wanted to get the same slant board as what I'd used in PT was due to the board being so stable and well-made -- it looks rather simple in construction, but the relevant aspects of this board are made and fit together in a way that results in the slant board being stable below one's feet (as well as involving a good range of angles, when it comes to its use), and that stability is very important, especially when one considers that some 'major' muscles and a critical tendon (among other things) are being stretched while 'actively' using the board -- to have any such board 'give way', or otherwise result in one suddenly losing one's footing, while engaged in an active stretch, could result in injury, let alone possible exacerbation of an existing issue.

Gouged myself on a 1 1/2 inch splinter from inside one of the holes on the board. Inner surface of holes are rough. For this high price, I would expect the wood to be finished nicely enough that I would't bleed from unpacking it. The single sheet of photos enclosed to explain how to use the board was useful; however, other than a caption under one photo stating the lowest slot was a 10 degree elevation, there was no indication how many degrees of elevation the other slots were. Bottom of page said to go to [...] for additional information but the website was down. Expensive and overall disappointing. On the other hand, I didn't have the tools to do it myself and I really needed a slant board for stretches. Guess I can break out the sandpaper to ensure it is safer.

yup it costs more but have not seen anything else out there as strong and sturdy as this. Used one in a commercial gym and knew I had to have one for personal use. I use it everyday to stretch my calf muscles and used to have cramps in my calf all the time - not since using this... Love that it is adjustable. Went from level one to 3 in about 2 months...

This is well made, can be adjusted to 4 different angles, and can be folded flat for easy storage. But, I suppose because of this design, and the thickness of the sturdy boards, the bottom edge is a bit higher from the floor than other non-folding products one finds in gyms ..etc. I find this a bit too high but still very usable ( I don't use it as shown in the picture, I don't put my entire foot on the board , only the front third ) I suppose if you use it as shown in picture then there should be no issue at all.

While it is a good quality product, I think it is a bit over priced for what it is. But, this seems to be the going rate for similar products.

Pricey but very good quality and I am glad I purchased it. Same as the incline board I use in physical therapy.

bought this product for my spouse to use after surgery and when we took it out of the box discovered that the non-lip sticker was not included. Now I'm wondering if the company would send me the stick_on non-slip paper. My spouse is unable to use without slipping of the slant.:(
