5.0 out of 5 stars Its a good movie for anyone with a sense of humor.
Geez I cant believe some of you people. Whah! Boo Hoo! This offended me. So it made fun of gays. Most other comedies make fun of the general population. A million movies make fun of you everyday run of the mill Joe Schmoe and its not offensive. So why cant you people just loosen up a bit, stop crying and take the movie for face value and stop reading too much into it...

Well, a movie that shamelessly plays into every conceivable gay stereotype and cliche has got to be annoying, even offensive, doesn't it? That was my first impression when I started watching BOAT TRIP, but as the film moved along, and meandered through a bad script and over-the-top slapstick physical comedy, I found myself chuckling, then, of all things, actually...

No I am not a racist and no I do not hate people who live alternate lifestyles but you people screaming this offends me and that offends me is what is wrong with this country today. Life in general is not fair to every single human on earth at one time or another so get over it already and stop making it more miserable for the ones who dont gripe and complain all the time. Its a movie and a good one if you can allow yourself to watch a movie while taking it with a grain of salt.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good For A Laugh Or Two, March 27, 2005
This review is from: Boat Trip (Unrated Edition) (DVD)
Well, a movie that shamelessly plays into every conceivable gay stereotype and cliche has got to be annoying, even offensive, doesn't it? That was my first impression when I started watching BOAT TRIP, but as the film moved along, and meandered through a bad script and over-the-top slapstick physical comedy, I found myself chuckling, then, of all things, actually laughing. It became apparent that BOAT TRIP never, ever, had any intention of taking itself seriously, so why the heck should the viewer?

The plot is lame, but still entertaining: Jerry (Cuba Gooding Jr.), distraught over being dumped by his girlfriend, and his pal, Nick (Horatio Sanz), decide to "score" by booking a cruise. Problem is, it's a gay cruise--much to the shock and horror of the two buds. And of course, every conceivable gay stereotype is then trotted out for the viewer; some of it bombs, some of it (the gay poker players) is downright funny. And then Jerry finds himself falling in love with the only woman (at the time) on the ship, dance instructor Gabriella (played by a wonderfully hot Roselyn Sanchez). Problem is, Gabriella is fed up with hetero men, and longs to seduce a gay man, so Jerry must pretend to be gay (leading to even more absurdity, yet Gooding manages to pull the zaniness off).

Gooding and Sanchez do well with what they have to work with, while Sanz is an annoying John Belushi wannabe. Other cast members include a very creepy Roger Moore, and sensational Playboy playmate Victoria Silverstedt. Will Ferrell even makes a brief, over-the-top appearance. No, BOAT TRIP is probably a movie I won't take the time to watch again, but it has its fluid, laughable moments. Hey, how can a film featuring the Swedish Suntanning Team be a dud?

There are not many comedies I can watch over and over, laughing out loud each time, but Boat Trip cracks me up every time I watch it. Boat Trip is about contrast and the contrast is what delivers the laughs. Cuba Gooding Jr's comedic timing is absolutely perfect, delivering punchlines both verbally and visually. His facial expressions and body movements add horsepower to the laughs. Horatio Sanz is the perfect complement to Cuba, adding straight and comedic volleys that extend the laugh sequences. Roselyn Sanchez has never looked sexier onscreen. She'll make your pixels SIZZLE!!!! Lin Shaye as Sonya the (tanning) Coach is hilarious. Vivica Fox played her part well. Roger Moore tried, but didn't quite mesh with the cast or the movie.

Boat Trip is a 94 minute stand-up comedy routine. It is outrageous on every level just like the best onstage comics. It definitely won't appeal to homophobic souls, but for everyone else who could care less about a person's sexual orientation, you will crack up.

The DVD at a 1.77:1 or 1.85:1 aspect ratio fills a widescreen TV and is sharp and enjoyable. The unrated version has boobs, lots of 'em, and a fair amount of F-bombs, but what would you expect? As apparent from the other reviews you'll either love or hate this movie. I friggin' love it.

Boat Trip, the comedy movie,is the story of two guys who want to have fun and meet girls on their cruise trip ,but they make a huge mistake when they go to buy the tickets, they argue with the man who is a ticket agency.

So he,the ticket agency, persecutes them by give them another trip's tickets that is a gay cruise trip.At first, they do not know that they are on a gay cruise, but afterwards they know. They have to stay with gays through the trip.

The movie tries to joke with how gays flirt and how they act,and it works. That is not the way to despise gays but to play with them.It also shows anyone can be friends ,despite they are gays or not.

I recommend that people who want to relax and have fun should see this movie because it has nothing to make you stress.
So,I would like to rate 4 from 5 for this movie.

What happens when a recently dumped straight man and his oafish best friend accidently find themselves on a gay cruise? A big mess. "Boat Trip" is one of the worst films I've ever seen. Filled with crude sexual humor and goofy sight gags, "Boat Trip" is rarely funny and often offensive. Apparently, the makers of this film were trying to cash in on the recent explosion of gay culture in the media, but after watching this film I have a funny feeling that the writers have never even met an actual gay person. Tired and ridiculous stereotypes are all this film really has to offer. Charming Cuba Gooding Jr. and sexy 'n sassy Vivca A. Fox should fire their agents immediately.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stupid movie, even more stupid DVD, October 9, 2003

Vibrant Cuba Gooding, Jr. and dim-witted Horatio Sanz are two love hungry guys who decide to take a cruise to pick up on some good old lady lovin', but end up being the only two straight guys on a very non-heterosexual cruise. The premise to this movie sounded like it could be really funny: two straight guys on a cruise full of gay men. You could definitly do some funny things with that, but Boat Trip just made it really sappy. It also was full of some really stupid and crude humor that really wasn't funny at all. I did like Cuba's performance and Roger Moore was just funny as hell as a gay guy, but other than that this movie was just flat out stupid. The film had a very choppy and unstable execution. And the extras on the DVD have to be the most worthless extras on a DVD I have ever seen. Who really cares about Tanning Tips with Playboy Playmates? Worthless.

Wow! This movie is something - I'm not sure what, but it is something. Gay men, straight men, and women are all stereotyped and lampooned - but it is never funny. At the same time, it is never really offensive either. Some raunchy, supposedly comedic sex and nudity scenes are neither really comedic nor sexy. Even in that teenage-boy-wants-to-see-some-boobs way. It is so weird.

I can't even really describe how awful it is, but I couldn't turn it offer either because I had to keep watching to somehow justify it's existence. Why did Cuba Gooding do this? Has Roger Moore blown through all his cash? With all the scripts floating around, who read this and said - yes, this is the one, let's make it!

I haven't asked myself so many questions since Philosophy 101.

3.0 out of 5 stars Baseball Bats Will Never Be The Same, November 6, 2005

This review is from: Boat Trip (Unrated Edition) (DVD)
One of the things that "Boat Trip" isn't is high level humour of a stimulating kind. However, if some light and crude humour buzzes you, then "Boat Trip" may be just the thing you are looking for.

Two guys both have differing love issues, (one gets dumped for a car detailer and the other just hasn't gotten past 1st base except with a 51-year-old with a fake leg). As a solution, they book a cruise, but the vindictive travel agent books them both on a gay cruise in revenge for their argument with his boyfriend.

The marriage between romance "feel good" and crude sexual innuendo just doesn't work as well in "Boat Trip" as it has with other movies. The plot certainly has a lot of potential, but that seemed rather unrealised in many ways.

Being of simple humour, I enjoyed a lot of the antics of Cuba Gooding Jr and Horatio Sanz as they both solved their problems in their own unique ways. The movie particularly showed Gooding's versatilty in his ability to play a fairly light role, as well as the more serious ones in other movies.

"Boat Trip" is certainly not up there with other trip oriented movies, but is good for a chuckle. That is, if sexual humour is what you like. If not, pass on this one.
