Fun CD for kids and parents.,

The reviewer you picked is a little nuts! Duh, Bob the Builder is British! It is "translated" to OUR kids, they didn't just change it for the CD. (And by the way, it's "tiling" on the roof, not toiling! This CD is fun with real dance-type music. My kids love it because there are so many sound bites of the characters. I give it an 'A'.

We first heard this CD/album on the imported UK CD, where it orginated. The music videos of 'Mambo #5 ' and "Can we fix it?" are great!- our son just loves them! He dances to the music whenever it is played. As for it being released here in the US in it's original format of british accents--I do not think any child will be bothered by it.

My son loves this CD, we only listen to this song in the car. The only song he dosen't really like is the spud song. I have already heard most of these songs on the DVD movies.

Mommies, forget your fitness plans! Dance the night away!,

My son's auntie sent this for Christmas and it is a big hit! Not only does it have Bob, but the songs are so fun to dance to! We put it in, and instantly my 3 year old and I were dancing, and kept on dancing through the whole CD. I was actually working up a sweat. The songs are catchy and fun. It is hilarious how they've changed some popular hits. This will definitely be one of my son's favorites. Even the 9 month old baby was bopping to the tunes!

I was surprised at the editorial review:
"He may be an unapologetically blue-collar kind of guy, but Bob the Builder sounds awfully big for his work britches on his album debut. Since when does this crew carry on in British accents?" Um.. since the beginning. Bob the Builder is a British Invention (just like the Teletubbies). People should check their facts before trying to be sarcastic on a public website.

Children's music doesn't sound like this very often. These twelve tracks are electrified and loud! It's not music to put your kids to sleep, or to show morals and good manners a la Barney. Plop this one into the CD player and you've got an almost non-stop 40 minute run of energy and fun. Some of these tracks are borrowed from pop hits of its time ("Mambo #5", "Dizzy!" and "No One Can Dig It Like We Do"), but they actually IMPROVE on their MTV counterparts: excellent melodies, brilliant performances by the actors (or you're going to tell me the North-American voices are better? Have you ever heard Yankee Wendy laughing?!) and an an atmosphere of enjoyment and fun that defies explanations. The more I listen to this, the better it gets, and I've been a fan of this album for months already. There are very, very few tracks that somewhat break the flow (the boybandish "Bob's Line Dance", and the fillerish "Super Spud"), and the ones that don't are excellent. "Right Tool For The Job", "Dizzy" and "No One Can Dig It Like We Do" are surefure hits, and look out for the intoxicating groove of "Let's Get Busy". And, yes, Elton himself appears on "Crocodile Rock". If you and/or your kids like Bob, and if you're not offended by the sound samples on this very site, be sure to pick it up. For one, this is music for kids that won't make you run away screaming after five minutes of music. And it's not too hard to enjoy it, honestly.
Finally, since several voices have actually changed in the USA version of the newest Bob episodes, the British voices probably won't be such a bother, after all.

Bob Rocks!,
This review is from: Bob the Builder: The Album (Audio CD)
My 3 yr old & 18 month old like this CD so much, we have to play it every time we go somewhere in the car. I enjoy this CD more than most children's CDs. I would say it is their first "hip" cd they have ever listened to---so I would guess most adults would not be annoyed by it. I originally ordered it for my son's Bob the Bulder birthday party---and now it is in heavy rotation 2 months later.

Wonderful for Cooling a Cranky Toddler!,

I bought this CD for my 19 month old son, who is a BIG Bob the Builder fan, and he loves it! He doesn't seem to mind that the voices on the album are British. It always calms him down whenever he's cranky. The videos are wonderful. We (my son, myself and my husband) all love Mambo No. 5 so much that we dance around to it all together!I definitely recommend this CD to anyone who is a parent of a Bob the Builder fan.

It made my 3-year-old cry !,
This review is from: Bob the Builder: The Album (Audio CD)
No proper songs or music from the TV show, (except a dance-music version of the theme song) and all the character voices are the original British actors' and not what we hear in North America! In short, there is nothing on this CD that my 3-year-old son recognizes as being from the Bob The Builder show. He was confused and angry when we played it for him, asking us where the Bob The Builder music was. A major disappointment. (And by the way, we're not confused - we understand that Bob the Builder is originally from England and have nothing personal against Bob the Brit. However, if your child has come to know and love Bob the Builder by watching the TV show in the USA on Nicklelodeon they will be expecting to hear the voices that they associate with the characters and will be upset. Imagine buying a Sesame Street CD with all the familiar characters' voices changed! This was a major oversite, and considering all the money being made on merchandising they should have done it right).

Mother Steals CD from Toddler!,

This review is from: Bob the Builder: The Album (Audio CD)
This CD is excellent! My nearly 3 year-old son asks for it exclusively when we ride in the car, and if I try to play something else he chants "Bob the Builder Bob the Builder" until I put it back in.That's the great thing about the CD, the music is so catchy and modern that even adults won't mind listening to it over and over. It makes you want to dance and move. My husband and I know all the words by heart and we sing along. Lot's of different styles, like Latin (No One Can Dig It Like We Do) and Country (Bob's Line Dance) So much better than the treacly "kiddie" music that is like nails on a chalkboard. And yes, this CD is produced by the BBC - so they did not redub the original voices. Frankly, I like the British voices better (with the exception of Spud and Wendy) and in some cases (like Dizzy) the difference is barely distinguishable. My son doesn't mind at all, in fact I don't even think he noticed. He's too into the music. The only reason I gave the CD four stars instead of five is that some of the mixing is uneven. The vocals are sometimes be drowned out by the music on my cheap factory CD player. When I play it on my good home stereo, it sounds great. A worthy addition to your CD collection, just warn your child you may be "borrowing" it sometimes. |
