This special collaboration among four masters of smooth jazz performing live in a recording studio is a true delight ,in terms of their musicianship.The tracklist includes a mixed bag of songs,most of which are favourites:101 Eastbound,Chant,After the Dance,Bali Run,Between the Sheets and Amoroso. What is lacking is the absence of any stage design whatsoever which could improve the overall performance and the Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack,which could be more impressive had it been remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1 .Nevertheless if you are into smooth jazz,play this and you are in for a pleasant evening.

Fourplay is a fantastic group of musicians and they do not fail to satisfy here. They chose two great guest too. I am in love with Chaka. Her presence here overshadows and dwarfs everything around her. Sorry about my bias towards her voice and stage presence. Phillip Baily is awesome too. Both Chaka and Phillip Baily have such awesome natural talent when it comes to vocals. Aside from that, the performance of Fourplay is awesome.

Bob James: An Evening of Fourplay Vol 1 & 2 GREAT IT WAS ALMOST LIKE I WAS THERE PERFECT ARRANGEMENTS. LEE RITENOUR IS STILL ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYERS AROUND AND HARVEY MASON IS STILL THE BEST DRUMMER AROUND. NATHAN EAST IS DOES A GREAT JOB ON THE VOCALS. AND WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY ABOUT BOB JAMES. EXCEPT HE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST AROUND.

If you are a TRUE FAN of Lee, Bob, Harvey and/or Nathan then you have GOT to see this! As a jazz artist myself, these are the guys that I look up to.
The sound is pristine having been recording live in a recording studio. Overdubs came out perfect. A must have!!

Having been a fan of Fourplay for many years, this DVD did not let me down. I bought it as a gift for my husband and he loved it.

The audio quality isn't the best but must have it if you like real smooth jazz

a few nice surprises on this dvd with guest appearances of chaka khan, Phil Perry and Philip Bailey. Top musicians having fun together

I have many DVD in-concert videos and this one is as well done as any. The quality of the stage lighting and the sound reproduction reminds me of the 'Yanni- Live at the Acropolis' video(I have it on Laser disk). The surround sound in DTS is like being there. Fourplay is an fantastic group and the producer/editor of this DVD shows them well individually as well as a group from many angles. Many in-concert videos jump around too much for my taste but here they stay on each musician long enough to see them do their magic. This video shows that Bob, Nathan, Larry, and Harvey are performers who obviously love what they are doing. If you love smooth jazz and/or Fourplay, this DVD is a must have.

If you just want to chill and relax. If you want to slow down your blood pressure, this is a great video to watch and listen to.

The smooth soothing dolced tones of Fourplay are awesome.

Kick back and enjoy watching quality musicians having fun entertaining you. I am glad I purchased this video.

I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD. The quality, the close ups, the solos, the music selections, the guest performers, it was all worth the money. I only wished I could have been there to see it live.
