Biography

Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe.

I picked this CD up from Starbuck's the other day because I noticed there was a Previously Undreleased live version of No Woman, No Cry. I proceeded to listen to the album on the ride home the next day. The great thing about Marley and the Wailers is one song can be listened to with excitement, and the same song can later serve as a lullaby at a later time. With over half of the tracks Previously Unreleased, I highly recommend this to any Marley fan - casual or fanatic.

The disc is comprised of 13 live recordings from five shows performed between 1973 and 1975. I'll go ahead and list basic information from the booklet since Amazon currently lacks in that department for this particular release. Note: According to the booklet, Peter Tosh is featured on the first nine tracks.

Since I always liked Peter Tosh's music and compisitions in first sight since Bush Doctor and Don't Look Back, during the time he signed with Rolling Stones Records; I saw him live at Jazz Festival Montreux 1979 in Switzerland with supporting acts Dennis Brown and Steelpulse. In these days, in the old Montreux Casino, smoking was still allowed at all shows, during the Tosh Concert you couldn't almost see the band, when you were placed a little in the back of the stage, because of the huge smoke cloud, hanging all over the place...:-)...I also liked Marley a lot, as the music of the 2 is so close together. Just bought the SHM CD editions of Marley's Babylon By Bus, Live and Live Forever, last gig in Pittsburgh 1980, that really sound excellent, I now discovered this Starbucks edition, which reveals 13 live Tracks of Marley, that are very special.
On 6 tracks of this CD, Rastaman Chant, Stop That Train, Stir It Up, Concrete Jungle, Get Up Stand Up and Lively Up Yourself you get Tosh's and Marley's singing and guitar playing together. Very special CD
