Product Description

Color: Glacier

The Boba Carrier 3G includes more than a dozen features making this carrier truly one of a kind! The Boba G3 elegantly accommodates the widest age range of any of the soft structured carriers, from newborn to preschooler. It allows newborns to be worn in a pouch style carry that works well with their natural tendency to keep arms and legs pulled in, and requires no special inserts or accessories. As the baby gets older, you can do a regular front carry with legs out. It is also a superior back carrier for toddlers and even preschoolers with a very tall body that prevents leaning, a wide seat that prevents leg dangle, and unique footstraps. Other exciting improvements include storage pockets, adjustability of the sleeping hood, and shoulder strap holders to keep your purse or diaper bag from slipping off your shoulder when carrying your baby in the Boba.

I had an ERGO baby carrier which I liked but I wanted something cuter so I went with the Boba 3g in Soho. Not only is the pattern gorgeous but it is so much more comfortable than the ERGO. My husband even prefers to wear the Boba (even though he thinks it is way girly for our son) because it is more comfortable for him. It is super adjustable and there are adjustments at both ends of each strap which makes it easy to adjust in either a back carry or a front carry.

I love the new features of the 3g too - like being able to be used for a newborn without an extra insert (the main selling point for my husband and I). At first I thought the strap holders were kind of silly but now I use them every time I use the carrier!

I did a 2 hour long outdoor scavenger hunt in downtown Fort Worth, TX with my 25 pound toddler on my back in the Boba 3g. I jogged almost the full 2 hours and my back didn't hurt a bit. LOVE LOVE LOVE this carrier!

Boba vs. Ergo
Boba-[...]
Ergo (performance)-[...]

I recently purchased both products.
Here is my opinion about what I liked and didn't like.

MATERIAL
I like the black Boba, but felt it could be softer. Maybe the organic is softer? The black material tends to pick up on any type of fuzz. I should have thought about that when purchasing, but the Ergo black isn't the same material and it doesn't pick up fuzz like the Boba does. The Ergo was lighter then the Boba.
Ergo - softer, lighter
Boba - thicker, catches fuzz

HOOD
I do not like the thickness of the hood on the Boba. It is bulky when it is put away. I would like a soft cotton hood. I liked the hood on the Ergo better. When put away, it didn't take up much room. Both hoods (Ergo Performance, Boba) were removable. The Ergo Performance hood was much softer and not as thick. Ergo says their hoods are UVB and UVA, but I'm unsure if Boba has this with their fabrics.
Ergo - soft hood, UVA/UVB, removable(performance)
Boba - thick hood, bulky - takes up pocket, removable

STRAPS
I love the straps on the Boba. They are thick and they sit directly on my shoulders. I felt that the Ergo straps sat too close to my neck and then squished my baby. I like how the strap in the back can move up and down, but I felt that the Ergo straps stuck in place better. I love the ability to wrap the straps. This is completely necessary. Those straps get in the way. I liked the way the Boba strap around the waste was better then the Ergo. I felt that the waste band on the Ergo was lower and not as comfortable. The Boba was the same width in the front from side to side. The Ergo gets bigger in the middle. Boba has an option to hold your purse on your shoulder. Nice feature.

We really like the way the Boba 3G feels. We never get a backache when we carry our daughter in it, and she seems very comfortable. However, the only problem and its a major problem is that both the Boba wrap and 3G are just not suitable for our tropical climate. My daughter will get really hot and by the end of it, I will be covered in sweat. When in air-conditioned places, its not so hot for me, but still very warm for her. We often see her having red hot flushes on her cheeks and legs when we take her out of it, and this is only after about 15 minutes of wearing. Another problem is the material attract LOTS of dust. It looks like dandruff flakes. If not for these 2 problems, the Boba 3G would be perfect.

I can't praise Boba enough.

I've been babywearing for about 5 years now - and the BOBA never ceases to amaze me.

It is very comfortable.

It fits not only myself (5 foot 2 - 115lbs) - but also my husband (6 foot - 210lbs).

We currently use this with our 21 month old son on the back & love it.

Its great for trips to places like the aquarium where its to crowded for a stroller...

I look forward to using it with a few more kids!

I've tried on several carriers and this is the best carrier so far! I love the moby and boba cloth wraps, but the baby is getting far too heavy for the fabric to support her safely. So we decided to look into soft shell carriers.... Here's the thing, you're going to spend the money anyways, so you may as well get the best features available in a carrier and the Boba has them all!
I love that the buckle hits you right int he middle instead of on the hip like the Ergo does. I also love that the hood part is detachable and even if the hood is tucked in its pocket there is enough room for my keys. I got the Kangaroo print because I just thought it was SO CUTE. The colors are bold and really pretty, I get lots of compliments on the design. We have a daughter but I like that it is also neutral enough so if we have a boy I can use it with him as well. I haven't gotten to use the little foot things that come with it because my baby is only 5 months, but I did attach them, and I think they will be great for when the time comes! I love the straps on this too. I'm not a tiny lady (5'10" about 170lbs) but I didn't like the bulk of the ergo straps. This carrier has the perfect amount of padding around the waist and on the shoulders to be comfortable and distribute the weight evenly. Probably my favorite feature is the purse/bag strap on the shoulders. This is so AWESOME! I've used it several times while shopping. Just buckle the purse up there and it doesn't come sliding down over and over! LOVE IT! I'd say that feature alone is my favorite selling point!
The only thing I would like to see on the next generation of Boba's is having the teething pads come with them maybe in corresponding colors or something? even if you have to pay a little more it would be worth it.
