Product Description

The Boba Carrier 3G includes more than a dozen features making this carrier truly one of a kind! The Boba G3 elegantly accommodates the widest age range of any of the soft structured carriers, from newborn to preschooler. It allows newborns to be worn in a pouch style carry that works well with their natural tendency to keep arms and legs pulled in, and requires no special inserts or accessories. As the baby gets older, you can do a regular front carry with legs out. It is also a superior back carrier for toddlers and even preschoolers with a very tall body that prevents leaning, a wide seat that prevents leg dangle, and unique footstraps. Other exciting improvements include storage pockets, adjustability of the sleeping hood, and shoulder strap holders to keep your purse or diaper bag from slipping off your shoulder when carrying your baby in the Boba.

I had an ERGO baby carrier which I liked but I wanted something cuter so I went with the Boba 3g in Soho. Not only is the pattern gorgeous but it is so much more comfortable than the ERGO. My husband even prefers to wear the Boba (even though he thinks it is way girly for our son) because it is more comfortable for him. It is super adjustable and there are adjustments at both ends of each strap which makes it easy to adjust in either a back carry or a front carry.

I love the new features of the 3g too - like being able to be used for a newborn without an extra insert (the main selling point for my husband and I). At first I thought the strap holders were kind of silly but now I use them every time I use the carrier!

I did a 2 hour long outdoor scavenger hunt in downtown Fort Worth, TX with my 25 pound toddler on my back in the Boba 3g. I jogged almost the full 2 hours and my back didn't hurt a bit. LOVE LOVE LOVE this carrier!

Boba vs. Ergo
Boba-[...]
Ergo (performance)-[...]

I recently purchased both products.
Here is my opinion about what I liked and didn't like.

MATERIAL
I like the black Boba, but felt it could be softer. Maybe the organic is softer? The black material tends to pick up on any type of fuzz. I should have thought about that when purchasing, but the Ergo black isn't the same material and it doesn't pick up fuzz like the Boba does. The Ergo was lighter then the Boba.
Ergo - softer, lighter
Boba - thicker, catches fuzz

HOOD
I do not like the thickness of the hood on the Boba. It is bulky when it is put away. I would like a soft cotton hood. I liked the hood on the Ergo better. When put away, it didn't take up much room. Both hoods (Ergo Performance, Boba) were removable. The Ergo Performance hood was much softer and not as thick. Ergo says their hoods are UVB and UVA, but I'm unsure if Boba has this with their fabrics.
Ergo - soft hood, UVA/UVB, removable(performance)
Boba - thick hood, bulky - takes up pocket, removable

STRAPS
I love the straps on the Boba. They are thick and they sit directly on my shoulders. I felt that the Ergo straps sat too close to my neck and then squished my baby. I like how the strap in the back can move up and down, but I felt that the Ergo straps stuck in place better. I love the ability to wrap the straps. This is completely necessary. Those straps get in the way. I liked the way the Boba strap around the waste was better then the Ergo. I felt that the waste band on the Ergo was lower and not as comfortable. The Boba was the same width in the front from side to side. The Ergo gets bigger in the middle. Boba has an option to hold your purse on your shoulder. Nice feature.

I purchased both the Beco Gemini and the Boba 3g because I didn't know which carrier I would like. I have definitely decided to go with the Beco Gemini. The Boba 3g has a lot of great features: a wide well-defined seat, a small pocket for an ID, a credit card or some money, a nice sleeping hood but no matter what I did I just couldn't get comfortable in the carrier. First of all the back buckle is VERY difficult to access when wearing the baby in a front carry. I had such a hard time reaching the buckle either over my head or behind my back. Then I had a very difficult time tightening the straps (I watched the Boba official youtube video and that lady makes it look very easy when it's really not that easy to buckle and tighten, maybe I just have short arms, I don't know). Therefore the straps kept falling off of my shoulders. I would have needed someone to do the back buckle for me and tighten up the straps in order to keep the straps from falling off my shoulders but when I wear the carrier I am generally alone with the baby and my toddler daughter so I need a carrier I can put on easily by myself. The straps are also very bulky and thick and they dug into my shoulders and would hurt. I also don't like how the straps circle around your shoulders and under the armpit area. I found this design to be very uncomfortable. I can see how the straps would start to dig into my armpit area and become very uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it's because of my size. I am petite, 5'0 and 120 pounds. I have narrow shoulders and a short torso. While this carrier has a lot of great features and I desperately wanted to love it, it just didn't work out for me.Read more ›

Let me start off with the fact that a product must truly move me (either in a positive or a negative way) for me to write a review. For this first time mom the Boba 3G is pure bliss. Taking after her father I presume, my 5 week old daughter gets extremely gassy. She arches her head back and her tummy is totally tight. She is almost inconsolable and screaming at the top of her little lungs...no amount of patting on the back, walking around, or other means of burping seems to work. When this happens, we break out the Boba and go for a walk. After mere minutes, she is relaxed and we are walking around. A couple more minutes and she is asleep. This gives me free time to do the dishes, laundry, hey, even write this review (yes, she is in it now). As any time-strapped parent can tell you, free time is priceless (as an aside, I put a value on my time of at least $10/hr. Being that I swear this has soothed her for over 15 hours so far, it has well paid for itself already!). Although the Boba does not help her gas directly, it calms her down enough so over time the gas can naturally work out of her making her once again a happy baby.

Positive notes about my experience:
- My daughter is 9.5 lbs now and I can easily go hours with her in it. Obviously having no baby strapped to your chest would be more comfortable, but the Boba is in no means uncomfortable for me.
- My husband uses this more than I do! In fact, he had been using it for 2 weeks before I had even given it a try. I was at first reticent to use it as I did not know if I would be able to get it on and off with her in it by myself. This has not been a problem at all. Even the snap on the top of the back is easy to do by yourself.
- The customer service is excellent!
