4.0 out of 5 stars Go Boba! This is the best idea in baby carriers! August 18, 2012
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love to carry my little girl, and when she was an infant, Moby Wrap and a standard sling was my go-to, then I had a ring sling and a friend lent me her Ergo for a trip--and didn't need it back, so we've been addicted to the Ergo. Now she is having another child, so I was in the market for a new carrier for my 22#, 16 month old. I read great things about Boba & Becco carriers, so I was between the two when I saw the release of the Boba Air. What a fabulous concept! I live in steamy Florida & I'm often carting my daughter on trips, so this lightweight, compact carrier was a winner.

I've tested it on several trips around town & walks around the neighborhood, here's my take:

What I love! Well constructed and designed. The Boba team really put a lot of thought into this carrier. All seams are flat and finished, the stitching is tight, the nylon is lightweight, but really sturdy. There is nothing flimsy about this carrier, it's a sturdy feat of babywear engineering. I LOVE that the front pocket becomes a stuffable case for the carrier--the entire carrier, buckles and all fits into the pocket! There are snaps to put a hood over your sleeping child. and the wide straps are comfortable--even without padding. The buckles feel very sturdy. It is really lightweight & cool--a winner.

What I didn't love. I'm 5'7", 135# and I had to cinch the straps all the way together to get my baby up to kissable range when carrying her in the front. That was probably more of an adjustment for me in the way the Boba is designed vs. the Ergo in which she felt higher and more supported because it has a really broad waist strap. But the killer for me--your mileage may vary--was that the plastic clips that connect the shoulder straps to the buckle that snaps the two straps together digs into my back and/or chest. My hubby & I tried to adjust along the length of the shoulder straps (it does adjust--brilliant!), but I couldn't find a comfortable spot. Since this is a place where the baby's weight is distributed, I found it uncomfortable to wear for any length of time.

I'm so sad, but I've decided to return this to try another carrier. I highly recommend you try this carrier as it is almost perfect, and you may not have the same issue I did. It is extremely portable, lightweight, well constructed and nice looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing cheap alternative to a $120 carrier! September 20, 2012
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a mother to a newborn I would typically use a moby wrap. I needed something thin, that would hold my baby close to me. After many months it was time to upgrade. I naturally wanted another wrap, because that was what I was used to. I searched high and low for another wrap that was decently priced. Finally I fond one, and was let down. It was way too bulky.

Locally, many of mothers that baby wear get together twice a month to cover their questions; do a little swapping, and even test out other carriers we may like. A friend of mine had a boba 3G that she let me borrow as I had been looking into the boba brand. I had read about the boba air- and even tried it on that day.

I loved how the boba 3G held my child close to me, and didnt affect my posture. I however hated the padded shoulders and waist strap. I decided at the end of using it I needed the boba air.

BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE! It is so light weight. The boba air holds my son close to me- just like the 3G, AND its so thin like my moby! I am in love! It is easy to put him in a back carry, as well as a front. I would recommend this to EVERYONE!! At only $65 you can't find much better! I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded my expectations; Thanks Boba!! May 4, 2013
Color Name:Black
I have a 23-month old, almost 30lb. daughter whom I have carried since she was born. First in a stretchy wrap, then in a mei tai (and do still have a lovely one that I use for long hikes - though who knows, now...). I had a Beco Gemini for hitting the dog park or for muddy days. It was good, but not great (didn't feel wide enough, had trouble getting her all the way seated when putting her on my back solo, felt like too much structure and too many buckles to get an even, comfy feel quickly), but it served it's purpose tolerably. So when I sent it down to my brother, I realized I needed another SSC or I would trash my beautiful mei tai on the first rainy day.
Enter the Boba Air. I didn't need a ton of support for long stretches; just something that was easy-on, easy-off for getting us to the park and back and something that was washable and inexpensive enough so that mud or slobbery dogs wouldn't stress me out. So I got an Air and it is now what I reach for all the time. It is comfy and supportive. The lightweight material has several benefits; it makes it easy to scoot my daughter in and out and get her seated properly, it hardly feels like I'm wearing anything in terms of the heat factor, and the pocket stash is WICKED handy... it goes right in my small shoulder style diaper bag and barely adds any weight.
And then, yesterday, a little errand turned into a 2-hour operation, with her on my back the whole time (and sacked out for the last 45 minutes). I kept waiting for the cranky shoulders, but nothing. Totally fine and comfy for waaay longer than I ever planned. Also, I haven't ever experienced the discomfort with the chest strap described in a couple of other reviews; I've always managed to slide the straps up or down their little runners to find a comfy spot for it (though I will say that I haven't tried the front carry, since we don't do those anymore). And for reference, I am 5'3", size 8-10.
So...if you want a no-nonsense carrier for low $$, this is your product. Thanks Boba!!
