Bobby Brown - Bobby...,

I got this CD as an R&B fan, not a Bobby Brown fan. I had never heard him much other than his hits like "My Prerogative". After listening to it I was surprised at how talented he was and think this is a decent album. So my review won't be able to compare with his past work, but rather other R&B."Humpin' Around" is a real catchy song. This is definitely the most well-known and probably the best beat on the album. "Two Can Play That Game" is another upbeat song, with Bobby giving a girl a taste of her own medicine. "Get Away" is yet another catchy song. This beat is funkier than the others and Bobby addresses his celebrity status with his desire to have time to himself. "Til The End of Time" sounds more like a traditional R&B song. "Pretty Little Girl" shows Bobby singing about how he wants a strong woman with a head on her shoulders rather than just something pretty to look at. "One More Night" has a really catchy beat that is used on rap albums every so often. "Something In Common" is a great song with Whitney Houston. Still the listener questions this song with all the problems they have had. "That's The Way Love Is" gets back to the really upbeat party songs. With "Storm Away" Bobby addresses his best subject matter of the album. All in all this is a solid album. It is not without its downsides though. The CD is way too long. With 14 tracks it is over 70 minutes long. The shortest song on the album is 4:50 and many are over 6 minutes long. However this album should satisfy most R&B fans.

In this age where r&b is so souless, its good to know there are recollections and memories of good production in the genre. My mom bought "Bobby" in the fall of 1992 and we wore the cassette out in our new 1992 Toyota Tercel.
"Bobby" is the at the zenith of the "new jack swing" era led by its pioneer Babyface. With songs like 'Humpin Around' 'Good Enough' and 'Get Away', the album posseses an aura of talent backed up with musicianship that is superb.Bobby Brown struck a chord on this one personally. The songs are catchy and memorable.I highly recommend this record.

I love love love love love this CD. I still play it in heavy rotation with my much more recent music. Bobby was always my favorite New Edition memeber and I followed his music all the way from his first hit "I need a girlfriend" all the way to this CD. I think his vocals are raspy and wonderful. This material is AWESOME and Bobby delivers it all with a perfect mix of elegance and raunchyness. I don't care what anyone says about his personal life, the man is an ARTISTE'. I love him and I would love to see him do more. And my personal opinion is that the music industry black balled him for marrying Whitney Houston. No his star wasn't as big as hers................but HE IS SUPER TALENTED IN HIS OWN RIGHT, and had shown that over and over and over before they (he & Whitney) ever became an item. So to make a long story short if you want GREAT music buy this CD twice, because you will be sure to play the first one out and will need a spare BB CD.
"Humpin Around 3 and a half stars a good song but a little pop "Two Can Play That Game" 5 Stars a rump skaker supreme "Get Away" CLASSIC FUNK 5 and a half Stars "Til The End of Time" 5 stars funk with a layer of smooth over it "One More Night" 6 STARS this song twists my heart with funk & ballad and the girls harmony at the end is something the Supreme would be proud of. The rest of the songs are all good and averge 4 stars but these songs needed a mention.

Probably The Best Album He Did...,
This review is from: Bobby (Audio CD)
I gave the album 5 stars because this is the best recording Bobby Brown ever put out. Sure, 1988's "Don't Be Cruel" was a classic, it had some good songs on it. This album, 1992's "Bobby" had even more good tracks. It's the kind of album where on almost every track you can dance to. The first single, "Humpin' Around", reminds me of "My Perogative" a little bit, I like the track. Other grooves include "Two Can Play That Game", "Get Away", "Til The End Of Time", "Good Enough", and my personal favorite, "That's The Way Love Is", probably the album's best track. If only he didn't get into that drug ..., he probably would have still been great as he was then.

A good album, but not enough to match Don't Be Cruel...,

Unfortunately, the interest in Bobby Brown seemed to dip at this point (1992). As a result, his third album didn't fare as well. Although there are a few standout tracks (Get Away, Something In Common, Good Enough), Bobby fails to convince us all that it's still his prerogative. This fact clearly overshadows Teddy Riley's production contributions (Teddy produced half of the album's tracks). If you're a Bobby fan, then you might like this one...I only like a few songs...but I dig Teddy's productions.

I'm a very BIG Bobby Brown fan. I loved his "Don't be Cruel" and "Bobby" CD's. I think Bobby gets a bad wrap. His personal life, I don't think, should have anything to do with the music he makes. He's very creative. I really like to watch him dance. He's the best.! BOBBY! Make another CD! Thanks.

His best CD, in my opinion.,
This review is from: Bobby (Audio CD)
My favorite song on this CD is definitely "Lovin' You Down", but I really can't say there was a bad song here. If you loved 90's R&B, this is a very underrated album. He'll always be remembered for "Don't Be Cruel" "Perogative" and "Every Little Step", and deservedly so, but this CD was fantastic. I wish he'd just pull himself out of whatever he's on and come back with it.

Don't get me wrong this album was very popular at the time. But the kind of music that was produced on this album should have put Bobby on the map and this album should have won all kinds of crazy awards in my opinion. All the songs flow well and tell a story as album should. My favorite song on the album is probably One More Night but I love all the songs on the record, another stand out song is Storm Away...

I used to have this CD until my 28 yr old son, babysitting our dog and cat while we were on vacation, lost it. I tried to find it in the house for 3 years to no avail. I was sooo glad that Amazon had it on hand at a really great price! The seller was quick to send it as well. Amazon ROCKS !
