This review is from: Bobby Darin Was a Friend of Mine: Volume Three of the Best of the Blacklisted Journalist (Paperback)
..ok, if you are like me you already have all the Darin books, and are ecstatic over the newer ones following the recent uptick in interest in Darin. Al Aronowitz's may be the best of the bunch! His is of the "first person" style, having interacted with Bobby Darin going way back, and Al's journalistic writing makes the reading move nicely. You will also read about topics that have been hard to find info on, like Bobby's "Vendors" project. With friends like Al Aronowitz, the late great Bobby Darin lives forever...

Inside the mind of Bobby Darin,
By Queen of the Hop (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bobby Darin Was a Friend of Mine: Volume Three of the Best of the Blacklisted Journalist (Paperback)
Of the six published bios about Darin, this is the most fascinating because it takes us inside the mind of the man and explores many of his political and moral beliefs as well as his view on music and performance. Darin was an intensely political animal with very left-wing libertarian beliefs. This book addresses all the gaps in Spacey's movie and other bios. After all, we need to know what made someone like Bobby Darin write and record all those protest songs. Here you will find some answers.
My only quibble with this book is that it is badly edited and many sections are simply repeated to flesh out the pages. |
