Book Description

A professional thief, Bobby Barhoe, has a problem with the Mafia: They want him to do a job which he can't possibly pull off, because one of his most valuable associates, John Staikos, had just had a terrible accident involving an oxygen tank and a blowtorch.

Desperately seeking to vanish as swiftly as possible, Bobby seeks the help of an old flame of his, Eileen Novorski. On his way there though, he runs over a horse, and the owner is an Alabama tribe shaman with a purpose: Help Bobby to bring John back from the dead, save his life, and perhaps have a couple of drinks while they're at it.

Will Bobby be able to really bring John back to life? Will they do the job in time? Or will they end up in the Parking Lot of Eternity, forever trying to find a free spot?

In his efforts, he will team up with a shaman, and almost die a number of times, fighting evil spirits, and demons, as well as get involved in a war against the forces of Hell itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jam packed, fun read! July 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Bobby on a Stick by Vasileios Kalampakas starts off innocent enough but be prepared for a jam packed story of demons, shaman, ghosts/spirits, secret places, a gateway, crooks and a case of amnesia. Now throw some mystery and humor in there and you have the blend of this story.

The story opens up with Bobby driving down the road wondering what he was going to do. He has a job to pull off and his 'partner' went and blew himself up with an oxygen tank and blowtorch. He knew he would be killed if he didn't complete the job and as he was driving down the road he hit a rider and horse. The rider is a shaman and then things began to get really 'weird' from this moment on. I mean 'weird' in a good way though. I am a big fan of the supernatural plus mysteries so this fit right up my alley.

The characters were well developed and the story was ever moving. I must admit I did have some confusion while reading it but I am not sure why since I re-read the part I was having problems with and it flowed nicely and complete. I think it was because I had in my mind that the story was going to go one way and it didn't, it went another. That is another thing I can say about this story, don't think you know where it is going and what is going to happen next because chances are, it isn't going to go there. At least it didn't for me. There seemed to be surprises with every turn of the page.

I recommend this fact paced story to those who like supernatural, mystery, end-of-the-world, humor, and just plain 'a fun read'.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Never Know What to Expect October 24, 2012

Ghosts, Demons, and Zombies...oh my

This is not the normal type of book that I would pick up and read, however I'm happy I had the chance to read this book. I started out a little slow at first. While reading, I wondered what direction this book would go. The more I read, the better the book became.

I enjoyed the characters, especially Bobby and Eileen. I also enjoyed the action in the second half of the book. This is the type of book that you read and never know what to expect from page to page. I also really enjoyed finding out how the book got its name "Bobby on a Stick." I laughed when he finally figured out how to operate that horse.

This book is full of humor, action, and interesting characters. It's definitely an entertaining read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Had an unstoppable 5 hours read! March 23, 2012

Endless imagination, applied to describe another version of the physical battle between evil and humanity. If you like both demons and end-of-the-world-is-coming stories, you will like this book that flows easily as water down the hill.
It took me just a long, but pleasant, afternoon to read and keep in mind that english is not my native language!

Go on Vasilis, if you could write this in 3 weeks, you sure can do much better when time will not be a restraint!

More About the Author

Well, I'm an alright guy according to what the people around me tell me, but I rarely trust them so your mileage may vary. Other than that, I like to write fantasy and science fiction, most of the time mixing and matching them in weird amounts.

I really like writing short stories. Some of those I like to turn into novels. Perhaps you might like one of them, one day.

If you find the photo confusing, I have to make it clear that I'm not really a magical bunny - it's just that I share in the superstition that photos take away your soul.
