Editorial Reviews

The animated comedy Bob's Burgers returns for a third season. The series follows the ups and downs of Bob (H. Jon Benjamin), who run's Bob's Burgers with the help of his wife and their three kids. Bob has big ideas about burgers, but his family falls short on service and sophistication. Despite the greasy counters, lousy location and dearth of customers, Bob and his family are determined to make ever "Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening" a success.

This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

This product is expected to play back in DVD Video "play only" devices, and may not play in other DVD devices, including recorders and PC drives.

To backup on my previous experiences, I bought Season 1 the day it was released in retail. I loved the DVD. Albeit the episodes were in grainy quality, the commentary, special features, and the work that went into the art for the discs/cover is astounding. Flash forward a year later, there is no announcement on season 2 coming to DVD. A month later, it secretly was released on Amazon through the CreateSpace MOD program. It was this point where Fox had figured that the show was no longer profitable, but they should push a DVD release for fans who are just getting into the show/don't care about the quality. I bought the season 2 DVD and was brought massive disappointment. Other than the front cover, the whole DVD was lazily thrown together in probably a day by a high school student who didn't know how to use Photoshop. I even mean the DVD menus. Not a bit of effort. The episode quality is about the same as season 1; the colors are off a bit and it's grainy. But the biggest problem this time is that there are no special features or commentaries. The only bonus they added was a table read of part of an upcoming episode... from the THIRD season.

Then another year passes and Season 3 sees itself a DVD release. Minor changes are made to the process - the spine matches the color of the front, and the back cover also uses the same color instead of a bland white background like season 2 (and the final two Cleveland Show DVD releases). But this time, the problem was even worse. Not a single special feature. Not one bonus. The biggest problem I saw was the poorly-printed DVD sleeve. It was abysmal. I've printed better custom covers through my Inkjet than this travesty. I know it's insanely nitpicking to talk about the cover of a sleeve and not the actual episodes, but this really bothers me.

This review is about "Bob's Burgers" season 3 and "Archer" season 4. Earlier seasons do not contain ads. If not paying for commercials is important to you too, I would suggest checking ALL of FOX'S titles before purchasing. If the episode description states that the length of an episode is longer than 22 mins. then you are paying premium prices for tainted material. Example; "Family Guy","American Dad","The Cleavland Show" and even "The Simpsons" current seasons shows a running time of 24 mins. per episode. That means you're paying $1.99 to $2.99 for an episode that is almost 10% ADVERTISING!!! Even if that only totaled 2 min. per episode, if you download 30 episodes that is a total of at least 1 HOUR of FOX ADS TAKING UP ROOM ON YOUR HARD DRIVE! Don't forget that sometimes you're stuck with almost 4 mins. of ads per episode.

I really like this show. 5 STARS for Bob's Burgers!!!

1 STAR for FOX for tacking on commercials both at the BEGINING AND ENDS of EACH EPISODE!!! I ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU SHOW ON YOUR NETWORK. I WATCH THE SHOWS I LIKE. IF I REALLY LIKE THEM I BUY THEM! Do you know why? SO I DON'T HAVE TO WATCH THEM WITH COMMERCIALS!!!

If they keep doing this I will have no choice but to STOP buying FOX television episodes. After all, what's the use of spending good money on a product that itself completely negates the reason for buying it in the first place?

UPDATE

I really enjoy the shows "Archer" & "Bob's Burgers" and WAS purchasing the episodes as they were made available. It's great to program Media Player to run an entire season or even the entire series non-stop. I didn't mind too much paying up to $2.99 per episode because the shows are great and episodes don't have ads.

If am paying a premium for an episode why do I see commercials? If this continues I will not buy anymore videos from Amazon. This is the only reason this video got 1 Star, I love Bob's Burger!

I would like to first say that I love Bob's Burgers. It is one of my favorite tv shows as of now, a fact that probably contributes to my overall frustration with this (and season 2's) DVDs.

When purchasing this, make sure you pay attention to the fact that this product is a DVD-R. Similar to season 2, you will not find this DVD in stores because amazon burns/records the DVDs upon order. The artwork on the cover and back (which truly is not the most important thing) are horrible. They look like a high school project for a film class. They are pixilated and appear to have been printed on an every-day printer. Even more frustrating, the image and sound quality of the DVD recordings are not good. The episodes play grainy, appearing as if it is simply a bootleg copy you bought from a scammer on eBay. I believe this show deserves a lot more than this DVD-R quality. Comparing season 1's DVD (which are not DVD-R) with season 2 and 3 really highlights the difference in quality.

I Love the show but this gets 1 star because of FOX Ads at beginning and end of a PAID download... I will NEVER BUY from FOX / amazon video if commercials are involved.

I purchase content online to avoid watching advertisements. I was very disappointed to discover that these had ads at the beginning and end. I wrote to amazon and received a refund and I cancelled my TV pass. This is completely unacceptable. Somebody got greedy.
