I trust the brand for quality. And these are the best steel oats I've had as far as texture and tastes. I have them almost every day. I make a whole cup of dry oats as directed on the package, then put them in 4 individual containers. Each day I mash 1/2 a ripe banana, my cooked oats, 2 tblsp of flax meal, heat it and add almond milk & a mix of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove. AWESOME!

I have only been eating steel cut oats for the past 4 months after reading about the benefits of eating them over regular oatmeal. I really liked the other brand I was eating and only recently got the Bob's Red Mill Oats on Amazon after reading reviews and all I can say is WOW. These are delicious!! I 'thought' I was pleased with the other brand I was eating but these taste 100 times better. I will be a repeat customer for sure.

After a recommendation from my youngest brother, who lost 54 pounds, I began eating oats every morning. I switched to Bob's after trying other oatmeal and finding Bob's steel cut oats to be best! It really is a great product. Red's has played a part in my loosing 48 pounds and getting an "A plus" from my cardiologist!

Disclaimer: Eating oats was only a part of my weight loss, proper low calorie diet and extensive exercise are a large part of my health program. I have NO commercial interest in Bob's

I have been using this product for several months now. It is exceptionally good. Has a nutty texture and flavor. It is filling and holds my appetite until at least lunch time, which regular oatmeal that you buy does not. This is really good stuff. I have tried other brands, like the one that is in a can and called Irish Oatmeal and it is okay, but a little more expensive too. I nearly always buy this one because I just like it better.

I use steel oats all the time. Amazon provides the best price I can find anywhere. I make an oatmeal using my slow cooker that both my husband and I love. I am including it below for anyone that wants to try this. Let me emphasize that despite the fact the recipe says cook overnight, I have found that everytime, it takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours to complete. Initiall I thought it was my slow cooker and I bought a new one. Same thing. PLEASE READ MY NOTE BELOW. Therefore I suggest that if you are going to try this, do it while awake. What I do is make the oatmeal and then put it into individual serving size bowls and refrigerate. When we want it, I heat each bowl (covered) for one minute, stir and heat for one more. Breakfast is ready!

Ingredients:
1 cup steel cut oats
3 1/2 cups Almond Milk (or milk of your choice)
1 cup peeled and chopped apple
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts,
Pecans or almonds)
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1.
Spray the inside of your crock pot with PAM. Place the milk, cinnamon and brown sugar and whisk to blend. Add the apples, butter and nuts and whisk again. Finally add the steel cut oats and stir once more. Cover the cooker, set to Low, and allow to cook 6 to 7 hours (for firm oats) or 8 hours (for softer texture). Please read my note below:

I have tried this recipe several times and it is excellent. The only thing is that in my slow cooker , on low temperature, this is done in four (4) hours. Therefore, I prepare this during the day; not overnight, and I just store it in a bowl (covered) and when ready we portion it out and reheat in the microwave. YUMMY!

This oatmeal is the best I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I've tried them all & this one has the best flavor. I put it in the crock pot before going to bed at night (on low) and then it's ready to go in the morning. My 2 little boys love it as well. We throw in some fruit and we're good to go.. A nice healthy breakfast to start the day..

Nice, fresh tasting oatmeal with a slightly nutty texture. If you like the texture of well cooked brown rice, you'll love this oatmeal.

Steel-cut oats are simply the hulled grain which is then chopped into a few pieces by a steel cutting burr. This is instead of being squashed flat by steel rollers, which results in the more commonly sold "rolled oats". Squash them even flatter and they are sold as instant oats, which are so fine they aren't too far away from being oat flour (which explains why they cook so fast).

These steel cut oats need to be cooked longer to get them cooked all the way through. Fully cooked, they are slightly firm (not hard and crunchy) in the center. I like to wash them with fresh water a time or two before cooking to rinse some of the oat flour off. This reduces the tendency for the oats to become sticky and gelatinous.

If you like your grains to have the taste and texture of grains instead of jiggly mush, then these are great oats!

We really love using these oats with the recipe I got from Food Network. It is a great quick morning meal for my family when I make a large recipe on Saturday and keep the left overs in the fridge. The kids scoop what they want into a bowl, microwave it and then add their favorite toppings.

SO much better than rolled oats!!
