We use it to make Frappuccino. It works great! But Beware! Our recipe called for a teaspoon of the Xanthan gum. Not a good Idea. This stuff is a great thickener but a tablespoon turned my Frappuccino into bread dough. Now we use a pinch. It ought last us forever at those increments! Really great buy!

I'm trying to avoid using cornstarch or flour and still have a gravy to put on meat. I added one teaspoon to 2 cups of cream/water on medium heat until the ingredients were simmering and well mixed. It thickened more in the serving dish and became a perfect gravy. I am switching to this.

I was looking for a way to thicken my protein shakes to make them more palatable and found this to be a great alternative. I mixed the shake ingredients together with about 1/2 teaspoon of the Xanthan Gum and refrigerated it overnight. The next morning I dumped it in my blender with some frozen fruit and it was PERFECT! You can drink it slowly and it maintains the thickness even when not ice cold. When I would use crushed ice it was a race to suck it down fast enough before the consistency got too runny and the flavor was of course always watered down. This is a great alternative and the little bag will last me forever!

Gluten free flours require some type of replacement for the gluten found in other flours. Xanthan gum is the best option we have found and BRM brand is the best quality we have found...and we have been at the gluten free diet for a decade now.

This is a good buy in this quantity - though to preserve it, I pour some into a jar with a lid that screws tight, and reclose and seal the bag carefully until it's needed. The jar sits with my baking supplies and I measure the xanthan gum from that as needed. I do wish it were sold in a container made to reclose tightly.

This is expensive but you only have to use 1 or 2 tsp for whatever you are making and it does a great job thickening and 'keeping all the ingredients together' unlike some others (corn starch, tapioca, etc.)
