Book Description

November 13, 2007
Mary wrote this book to inspire women to be courageously in charge of their lives and lovin' it like never before. Women who were taught to be "good girls" when they were young now realize that being a good girl isn't good enough in today's fast paced, demanding and constantly changing world. Plan B is to be bodacious. Based on personal experience, "Bodacious! Woman" offers a simple, but powerful approach to feeling alive and in charge of your life. Using fun language such as "live like your nail color" and the "bodacious woman mantra," as well as sharing both her successes and struggles, Mary is able to connect with her audience in a very authentic, attractive way

About the Author

Mary Foley is a national thought leader for women, with a reputation for her spunk and experience. Fresh out of college, Mary set aside her hard-earned engineering degree, to search for a career that she loved. She took a job as an $8 an hour customer service representative at a then-unknown computer startup America Online. During AOL's hyper-growth, Mary was promoted four times, and she survived six layoffs, to become AOL's first head of Corporate Training, all while dealing with a difficult marriage. During those years she learned that being bold, positive, and courageous ? bodacious ? was the only way to thrive in today's world. But her rapid rise through the ranks at AOL came to a sudden end, when she hit the glass ceiling. Not satisfied to settle, Mary made the bodacious decision to leave AOL and build her career another way. Through her writing, speaking, Bodacious Woman's Club (www.BodaciousWomensClub.com), Business Success For Her offerings (www.BusinessSuccessForHer.com), and more, Mary inspires women to be bodacious in life, career, and business. Rather than CEO or President of her company Bodacious! Ventures, Mary proudly refers to herself as Woman in Charge. She holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Virginia Tech and a master's degree in organization development from Pepperdine University.

More About the Author

Mary Foley has been increasing her own sanity, confidence and fun since her freshman year in engineering at Virginia Tech. Thankfully, her university experience didn't put her over the edge, but it did cause her to search for a career she loved. She didn't anticipate she would find it as an $8 an hour customer service rep at then-unknown America Online.

During Mary's 10 year AOL career she thrived on the company's intense hyper-growth, being promoted four times and becoming the company's first head of corporate training. Even while experiencing success, her sanity was tested again and again. She survived six layoffs, a difficult marriage, and bumped her head on the glass ceiling (even though she's only 5' 2" tall).

Not satisfied to settle, Mary reached deep inside to find her inner courage - the bodaciousness - to reinvent her life. That decision set her on a path where she has never looked back. She went on to earn a Master's degree in Organization Development, became co-owner of a human resources company, started her own company, and wrote her first book, all by the age of 36.

Today, Mary is the author of three books, a popular national speaker, and former co-host of the Girlfriend We Gotta Talk! radio show. Her latest book, Live Like Your Nail Color, Even If You Have Naked Nails became an instant Amazon bestseller. Now, instead of solving engineering problems Mary inspires women with practical advice to create sanity for their lives and confidence for their careers - all while having a bit of fun!

Mary is an active member of many local and national organizations including the National Speaker's Association (NSA) and the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). In 2010, she was honored as the ABWA Richmond Business Woman of the Year. Mary has appeared on the cover of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine and spoofed on the E! Entertainment TV Show The Soup.

Spoofed or not, Mary takes life in stride, declaring "Wearing red nail polish really helps!"

In this book about life, Mary reveals how the "good girl" we learned to be when we were little, can sabotage us as women at work, at home, at life! If you feel like you're spending too much time and effort trying to please everybody, you've got good reason to buy "Bodac!ous Woman" by Mary Foley.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bodacious! Freedom, August 4, 2004
How do you retain your feminity and still develop the skills needed to be "Outrageously In Charge" of your life? Mary Foley can show you how. Written in a language women will not only understand, but relate to, Bodacious! Woman should be recommended reading for all women searching for the answers to be in charge of their lives personally and professionally. Chocked full of real-life success stories, Bodacious! Woman is an excellent read, not just once, but over and over again. I pull out my copy often for inspiration or just a good chuckle. Bodacious! Woman will brighten a gloomy day!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm not even the target audience, October 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought this to inspire my darling wife, who runs her own (great) small business, and thoroughly enjoyed it myself. The style is easy, non-preachy, and you don't get the feeling that you're tripping over a big ego. Easy to read and useful.
