Multifaceted Introduction to Bodhicitta,
By JMM (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bodhicitta: Cultivating the Compassionate Mind of Enlightenment (Paperback)
This book uses a traditional approach to introduce the reader to bodhicitta, the mind of enlightenment or the awakening mind. The style of this book very much resembles Stages of the Path (Lamrim) literature. This book could easily pass for an excerpt from a larger Lamrim work. The focus of this book concerns how bodhicitta is to be integrated into one's meditation practice. Several meditation techniques are explained, including the sevenfold cause and effect instruction as well as the equalizing and exchanging self with others instruction. The latter method is also the central practice of the Tibetan mind training (lojong) tradition. The traditional, academic structure of this book can be somewhat daunting, but the strength and clarity of the actual instructions justifies a positive review.
