4.0 out of 5 stars 5 Bodies to Die For by Stephanie Bond
"5 Bodies to Die For" by Stephanie Bond picks up right where "4 Bodies and a Funeral" left off. If you haven't read the previous books in this series, DO NOT try to start here! Bond's 'Body Movers' series is marketed under 'sexy mystery' and that's about a perfect way to describe it. Even when the situation becomes serious, the author quickly finds a way to lighten the...

This review is from: 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Stephanie Bond's style; her books are fast-paced, funny, filled with red-hot passion and lots of excitement, but this series has left a very sour taste - I raced through books 1 through 4, barely able to wait to crack the next cover to find out what mysterious/romantic adventure would befall Carlotta. Each book is written as a cliff-hanger; there is not a "temporary" ending to help soothe the wait. All well and good, as long as there is relief on the horizon. However, book 5 seems to do more unraveling than weaving the plotline, book 6 even more so, and... Horrors!! The rest of the series appears to be on more or less permanent hiatus, awaiting a possible TV series that doesn't actually seem to be in the works. I am very disappointed that the publisher and/or Stephanie Bond have opted for the same anti-reader ploy of Charlaine Harris's Sookie series. I'm not sure that I wish I'd never started this series, but I am indeed sorry that I'll probably never get to see how Carlotta's tale ends. Since I do wish I'd been warned beforehand, this is my caveat to all readers desiring an eventual plotted (and definitely foreseen) finish. You'll get sucked in, you'll love it, - and then you'll hate it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Skip this one -- nothing happens, July 5, 2010
This review is from: 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I can't believe I read this book, after the stupidity of the "4 bodies" that precedes it. "5 bodies" continues the inanity of "4 bodies," nothing new at all, but even after two books the author is unable to conclude a single story line. What a rip off.

Well it is entertaining, but Carlotta's inability to pick a guy is wearing thin. The Charmed Killer is not caught, just kills many more people and she still investigates and gets into trouble. Don't let the lack of closure stop you if you have read the series, you have to keep going.

4.0 out of 5 stars 5 Bodies to Die For by Stephanie Bond, May 23, 2009

This review is from: 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Even when the situation becomes serious, the author quickly finds a way to lighten the tone which makes these reads wonderful for a lazy afternoon. But you probably don't want to read them in public--unless you don't mind having other people look at you strangely when you're doubled over with laughter.

Carlotta's life is spinning ever more out of control. The 'Charm Killer' is still on the loose; an ex-coworker who tried to kill her has escaped from the mental ward; hunky body mover Cooper is dodging Carlotta's calls; Wesley is getting in ever-deeper with the local mob; and Carlotta has to move in with the ex-fiance who dumped her when her Dad ran off. Is that enough action? Apparently not, because Carlotta's car is bombed, in her driveway, and that's the impetus behind her moving in with Peter (the ex-fiance). Peter is everything Carlotta wanted...but she's a different woman after all these years and she's finding out that you really can't go back. Especially when there appear to be some people from Carlotta's old crowd who have no intention of letting her return go unremarked.

You may want to make sure you have book 6, "6 Killer Bodies", in hand before you start on this one. I'm tapping my toes (im)patiently because I have to wait another week (!) for its release. Of course, maybe other readers are more patient than I am; but if so, don't tell me!

4.0 out of 5 stars fun thriller, May 8, 2009
This review is from: 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Atlanta remains gripped with terror as The Charmed Killer continues to intimidate the city. Meanwhile Carlotta Wren hides at the home of her former fiancé Peter, but his late wife's presence dominates his residence; besides his elite pals hold her culpable for sharing the DNA of her father who pulled a few fiscal stunts on them; ergo she is unwelcome.

Her body-mover friend Cooper and his assistant her brother Wesley are finding business a bit slow in spite of the antics of the Charmed Killer. In spite of the down turn in the economy causing less professional corpse transportation, as always, Carlotta finds life out of control.

The fifth body movers' thriller continues Carlotta's adventures as a corpse and hunk magnet as the dead pile up while police detective Jack, her former fiancé Peter, and Cooper the professional body mover want her. The overarching plot makes snail progress leading to whether Carlotta is losing her Mojo or just filler. Still the lighthearted romp retains its graveyard jocularity that is a trademark of the series while fans will wonder who the last man standing will be in the Carlotta sweepstakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars IThis Series Just Gets Better, April 29, 2009
By
This review is from: 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Stephanie Bond's 5 BODIES TO DIE FOR 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5)is a funny, sexy addition to the Body Movers Mystery series. Carlotta is at her funniest as her conflicts increase with her brother Wesley's unfortnate escapades with gambling, her father's continued status as a wanted felon, her three love options, and her decision to move in with her ex-fiance for her protection. This book delivers on what readers expect for accident-prone, love-impaired Carlotta. It doesn't let us know where Carlotta's adventures with love are ultimately going and I can hardly wait to see which of her sexy men will be her ultimate choice. Bond continues to build a strong character that readers can relate to and cheer for in this series.

Readers who are new to this series should be aware that this book is the second in a trilogy within the series. Book 4, 4 BODIES AND A FUNERAL 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4)introduced us to the "Charmed Killer," so named because of the charm bracelet charms he stuffs in the mouths of his victime. Book 5, 5 BODIES TO DIE FOR continues Carlotta's adventures and the killer's reign of terror in Atlanta. This story line wraps up in book 6, 6 KILLER BODIES,6 Killer Bodies (Body Movers, Book 6) which will be released in June. I can't wait to see how Carlotta fairs against what must be an inevitable confrontation with the Charmed Killer in Book 6!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Stephanie Bond? Then you must read.., May 6, 2009

This review is from: 5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. Number 5 took off and kept getting better. I was not thrilled with 4 because it started slow and the background given was a repeat for fan like me, but 5 is wonderful.... The author slips the history of the series perfectly into this book so that the reader isn't slowed down with past incidences. I feel that a new reader could pick up 5 and just get hooked on the series, thus wanting to read 1-4. Bond is showing growth in the characters, no stale people in this series. With realistic characters and levels of life that anyone could say, I can relate to that..... Bond creates tough, strong yet caring characters that live life...who seem more realistic, less fictional.

So happy reading. The release of 6 can't come fast enough.
