Murder, Action and Suspense Galore!,
This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
4 BODIES AND A FUNERAL is a fast-moving, densely-plotted murder mystery that is full of fun, wit and sizzling escapades. Carlotta Wren, a feisty, sassy heroine, is at it again; moving bodies at night and working as a top saleswoman by day at Neiman Marcus. A murderer is at large and dead bodies are found everywhere. In addition, three guys are vying for Carlotta's attention and her brother Wesley can't keep out of trouble with the law. Things heat up between her and Jack, who is an undercover cop, when he moves in with her to keep her safe from the killer. I love Jack's super macho attitude with his sexy killer moves. Stephanie Bond deftly depicts the emotions of each character and the attraction they feel for one another. I could feel their raw passions as the steam rose from the pages. Jack is my favorite character of all the guys but each man has a unique quality to which I could connect.
Carlotta also must decide if she still loves her ex-fiancé' Peter or not. The mysterious and handsome Coop, her body mover associate, has problems of his own. She offers to help him out. Her ever-elusive dad makes a sneak appearance and persuades her to stay close to Peter who might be useful in turning up information on who framed him many years ago. Twists and turns galore and gripping suspense with a pleasing love story at its core, fill the pages in this new novel! If you like a sharp, sassy, suspenseful read, then place 4 BODIES AND A FUNERAL at the top of your `to buy' list! Stephanie Bond's novels in the BODY MOVER series are so addictive that they are like a scrumptious chocolate cake. After the first bite, you're hooked!

4 Bodies and a Funeral by Stephanie Bond,

This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Bond, Stephanie Bond that is. She's back with book four in her 'Body Movers' series and "4 Bodies and a Funeral" is just as funny as the previous three. Filled with everything from innuendo to slapstick, the heroine, Carlotta, has to try and figure out which man is the right one for her while dodging murder attempts, suspects, and a brother who's developing some VERY bad habits.
Carlotta is finally back to work and her first day is a doozy. It seems the current Olympic champion credits her charm bracelet with giving her the strength to win the gold and she's making an appearance where Carlotta works! Good news-Carlotta should be able to make some serious commission on all the shoppers packing the store. Bad news-when she tries to prevent an attack on the champ, she ends up face-down in a BIG cake. Worst news-the charm bracelet went missing and now there's a wacko serial killer putting charms in the mouths of his victims...and Carlotta and her brother both are considered suspects! Another fun read to enjoy as you snicker and snort your way through Carlotta's mayhem-filled life. If nothing else, you can always be thankful you're not Carlotta.

lighthearted romp,
This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Still mentally reeling from her friend Michael Lane trying to kill her (see 3 MEN AND A BODY), Carlotta Wren is back in Atlanta returning to work at Neiman Marcus. However, her first day back at the job is as wacky as her recent trip to Florida when some lunatic brandishing cake as a weapon tries to get close to Olympic athlete Eva McCoy. Carlotta knows her luck remains south when of the three hunks interested in her, Atlanta Police Detective Jack Terry and his beautiful partner Maria Marquez arrive in time to see Carlotta caked. During the fiasco, the icing turns out to be someone stole Eva's famed charm bracelet.
Soon after the cake incident, a murder victim is found with a charm. Carlotta and Jack believe there is a link between the corpse with a charm and the athlete losing her charm. As more dead bodies with charms surface, Michael escapes incarceration. Carlotta is a corpse magnet once again with bodies piling up as does the usual suspects wanting her (Jack, her former fiancé Peter and her brother's boss Cooper the professional body mover). The heroine is her usual self pondering why she can not have her cake and eat it too since she already has the cake (calories aside). The lighthearted romp retains its graveyard jocularity that is a trademark of the series while fans also wonder who the last man standing will be in the Carlotta sweepstakes. Harriet Klausner

Another fun entry in the Body Movers series,
This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm really enjoying this series. It's a combination of mystery and romance. It's not super serious, so it's a good one to read if you're looking for something fun and lighthearted. It's well written, so I care about the characters and the mysteries (there are several storylines going) keep my interest. The characters are kind of quirky, which I really appreciate. The storylines continue from book to book. Start reading from book one and read them in order. Books 4, 5, and 6 form a trilogy. Much of the mystery is NOT wrapped up at the end of this book, so go ahead and order 5 and 6 at the same time. You'll want to start them as soon as you finish 4. There's actually a "prequel" to the series. It's called Party Crashers. So after you finish 6, check it out to see how it all began. It introduces the characters that become the leads in the Body Movers series.
It's not War and Peace, but it's good escapist literature if you're looking for something light and enjoyable. It would be a good beach read.

Irritating,
This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my first book of the author and honestly I just could not get Carlotta and her poking around. At one point I asked myself How could a grown WOMAN be so dim. I just could not get into the caracter it was just so not a page turner. And the way she played with these men emotions. There are no words to describe this book.

Studid, stupid, stupid,
By Gadgeteer (Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book introduces a number of crimes, and continues personal entanglements from previous books. By the end of the book, exactly nothing has been resolved. The book just stops, with not even the pretense of a conclusion. Oh Jack, oh Coop, oh Peter, oh Wesley -- after all this repetition, who cares?

Worthless Characters,
By
This review is from: 4 Bodies and a Funeral (Body Movers) (Kindle Edition)
I kept thinking after books 1 and 2 that the characters would mature from selfish losers into worthwhile. Didn't happen - they are irresponsible and reprehensible compulsive self-made victims. I found myself wishing for them to be thrown in jail so the series can end. Won't read any further.

A DEFINITE MUST READ,

Anything written by Stephanie Bond is great, but the Body Movers series is absolutely FABULOUS!
This is not a stand-alone book so I highly suggest reading Body Movers 1 through 3 first. I whole heartedly disagree with the previous review - I think this book was FANTASTIC! If you're a fan of the series, this book will not disappoint! I am an avid reader and this series has easily become my all-time favorite over anything else. I was sad to finish the book, but am anxiously awaiting for books 5 and 6 due out in May and June '09. I hate the thought of the series ending with book 6, but I'm sure Stephanie Bond will come up with something equally as good for her next series. Stephanie Bond's writing is probably the best I've read. Her characters, descriptions, and plots are top notch! It's a fun read with mystery, three great sexy guys, very likeable main characters, and will have you captivated from book 1! |
