Excelent New Artist,
This review is from: Bodies Of Water (Audio CD)
This CD is fantastic! Solid Gold should do very well with this release. Think Phoenix, Grand National, and at times a bit of IAMX. Cool electro rock pop. It doesn't get much better than this IMO. I'm looking forward to seeing them live at some point.

Ran in to this purely by mistake (I think I was looking for Blondie on some old UK show that I thought was called Solid Gold via YouTube).....and that first song I listened to was excellent as was the next and the next and the next.......
I'm not getting the Depeche and Pet Shop Boys comparisons here at all. I am, however hearing, if anything, The Mary Onettes or Sneaker Pimps. Most of the songs run at the speed of a smooth gallop (not too fast/not too slow) and they humm and whine with great use of wheezy keyboards and a very funky/slap bass sound. Great instrumentation...deep piano, tight percussion and acoutic guitar......you can tell these guys really love music. There's also the great hooks, well written material and the guy with a great pop voice.....this could've been British - yes it really is that good!!!! I've come to realize there is certain music that is just too good to appeal to a mass audience, this is a perfect example. Oh, they've probably broken up by now or are about to shave all the edges off their music, maybe not.......................................................

This is an awesome first effort by what is obviously a very underrated band - I can't believe no one has reviewed this album. Lots of driving base lines and catchy lyrics. The end result is pure, Solid Gold - you won't be disappointed with this album.

Who, what a find. Love it. Read a review that said their roots come from Depeche Mode and teh Pet Shop Boys. That got me to find their myspace page to listen to some tracks. They are all outstanding.

Saw these cats open for Tapes n Tapes in Minneapolis, awesome show. Great album, not a throwaway track on it. My favorites are Get Over It, Neon Rose, and Who You Gonna Run To?
