Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Printed on the insulated, virtually unbreakable, plastic carafe of this French press coffeemaker is the slogan "Give up bad coffee for good!" It's possible, thanks to the coffeemaker's compact size and portability. It can be stored in a drawer at the office, packed into a suitcase, or taken along for the morning commute. Just 7-1/4 inches high and 2-3/4 inches in diameter, it fits most vehicle cup holders, briefcases, and purses. It brews up to 14 ounces of coffee and then keeps it hot for a considerable time. Freshly brewed coffee can be drunk directly from the coffeemaker or poured into a cup. To protect against drips, the screw-on lid is recessed to contain spills. All parts are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible, March 15, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bodum Logo Travel Press (Kitchen)
I bought this to use in the car if I'm running late and don't have time for coffee at home, but I love it so much I use it all the time. The coffee is great, and I haven't had any of the problems some other people have had - the coffee keeps very hot, there are no leaks, etc. If you just need a single cup of coffee and don't want to be bothered putting on a pot, this is perfect. It's great for traveling, too - I throw it in my bag with enough coffee for the trip and no longer have to worry about insipid hotel coffee. I'll be buying another one as my husband has started using it for tea, so it's useful for that, too. All in all, one of the best impulse buys I ever made.

I'm editing my review several months later to add some tips for those having problems. You don't need to screw the top on tightly, in fact if you do it will leak. Just turn until it stops. Also, I would suggest not cleaning the plastic container in the dishwasher as the very hot water can make it crack, even on the top shelf. The press itself is dishwasher safe. Last, make sure to use a coarse enough grind of coffee, otherwise it is difficult to press.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee but..., March 5, 2002

I have to agree with both of the reviewers here; it makes great coffee and it leaks. I've had mine for about 2 weeks and already there's moisture between the 2 plastic walls from the top seal. But--since it fits in my bag/desk/car and makes better coffee than I'd get in most drivethroughs, I'm just going to trade it in and hope I have better luck with #2 than the other reviewer. Besides, the idea of a totally portable little coffee pot is pretty cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed, June 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Bodum Logo Travel Press (Kitchen)
I was looking for a small french press and a travel mug so I wouldn't have to deal with a coffee maker, filters etc. in the morning and saw this. Perfect. Even less steps and clean up. I had no problem with the lid leaking and it kept the coffee nice and hot. Once the press was down there was no leakage back into the main cup, my main concern. I even turned it over once I finished my coffee to test the seal and the press kept all the grinds and liquid in place. No problems using this as a true travel mug.
