Makes the perfect cup of tea,

This gem of a tea press is simple to use and keeps tea piping hot. I have used the Bodum Assam Tea Press for a few years with a few minor "could be improveds," the main one being that the tea cools down quickly, even when using a tea cosy. The Bora Bora is a huge improvement. The tea stays as hot as freshly brewed, clear, and does not get bitter. Another improvement from the Assam is the basket the loose tea goes in fits tighter and doesn't overflow when water is added. The pot is easy to clean, and is as simple to use as a tea bag. This pot is very good looking and well designed. If Bodum comes out with a four cup Bora Bora Doublewall Thermo Tea Press I will buy it as well! May be a bit pricey, but does what it is supposed to do and looks fantastic doing it.

I love the double wall glasses and bought the teapot when I saw it was available. I use the teapot and the glasses together--a great pair. I get four glasses of tea from the pot, and the last one is still at an enjoyable drinking temperature. I don't use a tea cozy, and this pot is better than any ceramic one I have used. The glass is thin and certainly looks fragile; possibly not the best thing to have in a house with small children. But I've had the glasses well over a year, and the teapot several months, with no breakage. And the teapot does sit out on my counter. Laboratory glassware is just tougher than you think--it is not lead crystal. The infuser works well also, and it is very nice to be able to stop the brewing without having to dispose immediately of the tea leaves or their container. For me, it's been worth the price.

Best teapot I've owned,

This teapot is perfect for one person, making just enough for a few cups. The double wall keeps the tea very hot for a long time, but the teapot itself doesn't become too hot to handle. I much prefer loose tea and this allows you to see the strength of the brew through the glass walls, then immediately stop the process by pushing down the plunger. Its definitely worth the price, and I can't imagine using anything else now.

This is a wonderful little tea pot. Although only 2 cups capacity the pot is easy to use and extremely well designed. Tea is placed in the infuser, off boil water poured on top and the brew process easily gauged by the clear see through design. Once the perfect steep is achieved, compress the plunger and the steeping process is terminated. The double wall design is not as efficient as a vacuum container but keeps the rather small volume more than hot enough to finish off a perfect pot.
My only reservation is the sense of impending doom stemming from the very thin laboratory style glass. This is not a pot to leave out in the open as it the spout and handle look particularly vulnuerable, but so far so good. Just wish it was larger and about twice as thick.

I spent a long time researching teapots and could not find anything close to the Bora Bora pot.
It's a design masterpiece. Pros: - Clear glass allows you to see when tea has finished brewing - Steel infuser is sheet metal rather than wire mesh, which makes it much easier to clean/wipe and also looks much nicer (shiny!) - Infuser has very fine holes but plenty of them, which (a) allows for plenty of water circulation/infusion while (b) keeping the tea leaves inside the strainer - Plunger allows you to stop brewing at exactly the right time, but also re-use the tea leaves when you add water - Double glazed glass keeps the inside nicely insulated to keep tea warm, but the outside cool enough to set the teapot on a nice dining/coffee table without worrying about burning the surface. Also, there is no danger of burning the top of knuckles when you pour the tea! - Size is perfect! Makes enough tea for a long 2-person afternoon tea, or a single serving for 4 persons. I use it when I work from home and the pot will deliver 4-5 cups of warm tea through the afternoon. - The mesh on the infuser is set at just the right height so that on the one hand there is enough space to hold tea leaves when the plunger is depressed, but on the other hand the mesh is low enough that you can make a half pot and still get plenty of circulation to properly infuse the tea - The spout is subtly notched at the end for "no-drip" pouring - On top of everything else, the teapot looks great in a modern, form-follows-function design. Cons: - Price...I had to think long and hard before dropping almost 150 beanies on buying the pot! Highly, highly recommended!

Everything I read on this tea pot before my purchase is true! It is fragile in appearance, so I do handle with care and keep it in a location that will hopefully avoid any accidents. It brews a wonderful cup of tea. If you drink the two cups soon after brewing, the second will still be warm, which is a real pleasure. It is very nice not to have to deal with the steeped tea leaves while they are hot. I usually just leave them until I am ready to brew another pot, and then I discard them and rinse everything. Soaking the pot (only a few minutes are needed) with a little bleach in the water is a quick and easy way to get rid of the tea stains that accumulate. I love the elegance of this pot. I also found that although some very fine particles of tea do escape the infuser, they will be caught in the bottom of the spout as you pour your last cup. The first time I used it, I did push down a bit quickly on the plunger and pushed tea out of the spout. I have since learned to have a more delicate touch until the plunger starts moving down the infuser a little. All in all, I highly recommend this product. It is definitely worth the price.

This teapot, although a bit pricey, is all that a teapot should be. It really does keep the tea hot for at least an hour. I never have bitter tea, thanks to the tea press. One measurement of tea leaves can make up to three full pots of tea. The glass is very strong, and causes no worries about breakage. It is a delight to behold, too.

This pot keeps your tea hot for over an hour, you don't need a trivet, and you get to enjoy the color of your tea! Very visually striking--your tea floats in air!

I was a little worried about the price of the teapot but after trying it out I'm a convert. I love the way that it keeps my tea hot, seemingly for forever! An added bonus is how aesthetically pleasing it is! If I had one thing to suggest or wish it would be that I had a dishwasher because washing this by hand always makes me nervous since it looks so fragile.
I loved this teapot so much that I bought one for my dad and recommended it to my bf's father, who, after trying it out, then went and bought 2 more!

Great Tea Pot! .............................................................................................Just don't break it!,

I loved this press for months.
Then the actual "press" piece met an untimely death in the garbage disposal. Of course this is the one piece they don't sell a replacement for. Now I have to pull the basket out, which works, but is messy. I can't justify buying another one just yet. If you like your tea, this is the one to have, just don't break it. |
