Incredible machine, wonderful espresso, and worth the money!,
By
This review is from: Bodum 3020-16US Espresso Granos (Kitchen)
I bought the machine about 2 weeks ago and it took me about 5 min to read the instructions and use the machine. Sorry, but one would have to be an idiot not to understand how to use it. I love its versatility,e.g. espresso coffee or pods, regular water or add bottle (for those whose tap water is bad (comes with an adapter)), froth maker for capuccino or steam water for tea. It sure will draw WOWs from your friends. As long as you remember to run a cup of water through before each time you use it, your espresso should be the perfect temperature. Took me some time to realize why it was lukewarm. The only bad thing (why i gave it 4 and not 5 stars) I have to say about the Granos is that in order to remove the portafilter, i.e the part with the handle holding the coffee, you have to use force. But maybe after a few months it will loosen up a bit and things will be easier. All in all I am completely satisfied with its user-friendliness, crema, temperature, and versatility.

CAUTION: This machine has known leaky design flaws which BODUM chooses to ignore.
I purchased my machine January of 07 and was infatuated with my machine functionally and aesthetically until it began to aggressive leak from the tank above during the process of making espresso just nine months after purchase. After returning the machine (very costly shipping) to an apathetic outside contractor of Bodum that provided absolutely no technical information or help, the product was returned to me a month later only yielding one shot of espresso before it started to pour out the seams from the tank once again. CAUTION PEOPLE. This machine is tantamount to a sexy woman with no substance inside. Gorgeous looking design but with a huge design flaw that dates back to the conception of this product in 05'. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY or be tricked by the provocative sexual curves of this machine. Shame on Bodum for not making the necessary changes in their product when an obvious design flaw exists. According to my research, the average machine lasts 4-6 months before starting to leak. A $ 500 machine should work for at least 3-4 years. I advise anybody who is interested in this product to do some research online. The results are astounding...

Woked great for about 6 months. . . .,

Loved my machine when I got it - it is beautiful, and made a great latte. I used it about 7-4 times a week. After having it for about 6 months, I noticed that less and less espresso was coming out of the brewhead, and then I noticed that the machine was leaking. Luckily it is under warranty from the manufacturer, but I'm having a hard time finding my sales slip. If I can get the company to repair the leak, then I will be very happy with my purchase - just make sure that which ever machine you purchase has an extensive warranty and make sure to save your sales slip!!

Poor customer service.,

I purchased this machine in November 2005. When working it is a wonderful but it started to leak within 6 weeks. I sent it back for repair or replacement, 3 weeks later I received a badly damaged box, not the shipping box but the Bodum box. The replacement had a manufactures date of 03/04, 2 years old. It had obviously been used, coffee and water stains were present several scratches, and parts were missing. I called customer service and the supervisor promised they would ship a new one immediately and I would receive it no later than 2/23/2006. Three days after I was promised I would receive the new machine it has yet to arrive. I called customer service today and was informed they have no record of shipping a new unit and could I call back next week. The very used replacement machine was shipped back last week.
I regret making this purchase

Good coffee maker which also adds some pizzaz to your kitchen,

I have not tried any other espresso makers so I am not in a position to make any comparisons, but i am very pleased with this espresso machine. I does what it is supposed to do - make espresso; it doesn't just take up space in your kitchen - it actually adds character to it! All our friends are intrigued by it when they see it for the first time.
The only disappointment is the cup warmer at the top. But on the whole, worth the little extra I paid for this machine over other espresso makers.

Great Machine but very delicate,

This is an awesome machine and it looks hot in your kitchen. However, unless you plan on using it only sparingly, don't bother with it. I live and breathe espresso, so I used it at least three times a day or more. It worked perfectly for about a year and then it just stopped working one day - without warning.
Id say if you wanna buy it for the looks and plan on using it only once or twice a week - its a great purchase. Otherwise skip it and buy something like the Rancilio Silvia; which Im planning to purchase to replace my non-working Granos.

Leaky Brokendown Disaster,
This review is from: Bodum 3020-16US Espresso Granos (Kitchen)
Oh, how I wish I had read these reviews before I dropped the cash on this seductively cute little machine. It SUCKS!! I've had it for 2 years without problems. Then suddenly I tried to pull a shot and water started leaking out the front rather than going down into the handle. Bodum customer service said -- I'm not even kidding -- to soak it in hot water. Seriously? What is it you think is pouring out the top when I'm trying to make espresso? But I tried anyway. No luck. Emailed them back. Now, Bodum is radio silent, and I'm reading that they have abandoned this machine altogether. I wonder why. I implore you, please don't buy this product. Or anything else made by Bodum, if you can help it. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I hope they go bankrupt. In the meantime, if anyone has any better fix-it solutions for my poor little machine, I'm all ears. Sincerely, espressoChicago

I have had the Bodum Espresso Granos for over 2 years and have had no problem with it. The water container can be changed out with larger water bottles but I never did that since I felt that removing the water container might make it unstable or I might not replace it correctly. I love the flip top espresso cup storage and keep my cups there.
I drink lattes and have made them twice a day almost every day. I always use bottled or filtered water in the machine. The only little complaints I have is that sometimes the shots of espresso that come out are not all the same amount. I remember there was a way to set that but I never did. Also, I usually warm my milk before I steam it because it is sometimes not as hot as I'd like. I get loads of compliments on the style of the machine and it almost feels like an art piece on my counter. I'm sorry that Bodum is not making these anymore but if you see one for sale, don't be afraid to check it out.

I normally really enjoy Bodums design and functionality .. but this machine was definitely a mistake. I have had it a year and tried it only 5 times.. after 5 times entirely cold coffee I gave up.
