watch out - the sizes are confusing!,
This review is from: Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Glass Replacement Beaker (Kitchen)
I really like my Bodum coffee presses - I have two sizes, and was delighted to see I could replace the beaker separately. But watch out if you order a replacement beaker. My small one holds 3 of what I think are ordinary cups, so I ordered the 3 cup replacement beaker by mistake. Looks like my small one is actually an 8 cup unit, and my big one (which hold 5 of my cups) is a 12 cup unit. There is no info on the Bodum itself of how big it is, so if you don't remember, it takes some guesswork to figure out whether you have a "3", "8", or "12" cup Bodum.
Study the measurements carefully and get the closest match. The oz's held are the easiest way to tell, but of course if the beaker is broken you have a problem.

Bodum 34 ounce beaker is commonly called 32 ounce too.and some FAQ too,

Bodum manufactures four sizes of Chambord French Press sizes.
They are called 3 cup, 4 cup, 8 cup and 12 cup. http://www.bodumusa.com If Amazon were to have investigated their listing of this replacement beaker, they should have categorized it as that of 32 ounce for less confusion, or should have simply listed the beaker as 8 cup, etc. Or,even 32/34 ounce may have been a better choice. Here is the scoop,(in my opinion),for all the confusion of sizes for beakers listed on Amazon or elsewhere. When you are shopping for replacement beakers you start to realize whom is providing the correct information. It is not Amazon calling this 34 ounce to help you out, unless the replacement beaker is not made by Bodum and instead some other brand name? Amazon sells you a 8 cup French Press, then lists the replacement beaker as 34 ounce,i believe that the beakers are either not made by Bodum or information maybe lost in metric sizes to us calculations.Just list the beaker as mentioned above. Therefore,i shall list clarification for you all and one day will review my own comments incase i require another beaker, although I suggest you buy a replacement one anyways if you become accustomed to enjoying French press coffee. A French Press is worth nothing if the carafe beaker breaks. Buy one replacement beaker even the first time you have bought a French Press, then years down the road you will have thanked me for that advice. Have have had mine with no problems since 2006,but felt it is best to be prepared now. Bodum makes the following sizes clarified as follows. 3 Cup model is 0.35 liters or 12 ounces size beakers 4 Cup model is 0.60 liters or 17 ounces size beakers 8 Cup model is 1.00 liter(one liter size) or 32 ounce beakers 12 cup model is 1.50 liter ( 1 1/2 liter size) or 48 ounce size beakers. So, when you see 34 ounce beaker listed it is actually 32 ounces or one liter size replacement beaker. That is because a company like Amazon should list it as 32/34 ounce for better clarification just like Bodum website does. My perception is this 8 cup model is Bodum part # 1508-10 Also, you may consider buying the double walled glass carafe listed on Bodum website as part # 10573-10 but not sure if is listed for sale on Amazon. Just copy-paste the model number 10573-10 in the search mode and find out. On Bodum site,#10573-10 sells for $39.95 for double walled glass carafe. Of course, Bodum has its own shipping fees so find it on Amazon instead to try to get free shipping offers... Not really sure if double walled glass carafe is worth twice the price, but maybe if you are making your French Press coffee not following directions properly that double walled glass may be your solution to not break your carafes anyways. Therefore, consider this glass beaker for the masses.

Love the coffee, hate the carafe,
This review is from: Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Glass Replacement Beaker (Kitchen)
I love using a French press...hot, fresh coffee, hmmmm. But the glass carafes drive me nuts. I recently broke my second one, in the sink. Just a small bump will do it. Anyway, choosing the replacement part is much harder than breaking the carafe. Bodem says "4 cup" and what it actually is, is 24 ounces (apparently a "cup" is 6 ounces). So I measured my carafe, which held 32 ounces (this is 4 cups if 1 cup=8 ounces), and ordered a 4 cup replacement carafe. Wrong.
I went to the horse's mouth (Bodem's website) and there I find that an 8 cup is 32 US ounces (ounces are getting smaller all the time!). So this is what (I think) I want. If its wrong again, I'll let you know.

Glass Breaks Too Easily,
By
This review is from: Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Glass Replacement Beaker (Kitchen)
DO NOT BUY ANY BODUM COFFEE OR TEA PRESS THAT CONTAINS GLASS. BODUM USES A SPECIAL GLASS THAT IS EXTRAORDINARILY FRAGILE AND BREAKS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I love Bodum Coffee Presses. But I would NEVER recommend anyone buy one with a glass beaker. You will need to replace the beaker frequently, since the special glass Bodum uses is extremely fragile, and breaks repeatedly for no apparent reason at all. I replaced four beakers, two glass tea presses, and several beakers from milk frothers in short order before giving up. Make no mistake, you do not have to bang the glass against anything for it to break. It simply cracks spontaneously for no apparent reason Bodum has come out with some presses with a LEXAN clear plastic beaker. These do not break. I assume they came out with the LEXAN product because of problems with the glass. Be warned.

The IKEA french press is $12.99 and the glass beaker fits into the Bodum perfectly! That is all...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Glass Replacement Beaker (Kitchen)
Ordered this as a replacement for a Bodum Chambord 8-cup press that I cracked. Verified that this is the correct part number for my press. Quality control must have been off on the one that I got. I followed the directions to replace the beaker for a Chambord (unscrew the frame and handle, replace glass, put back together) but the beaker is about 1/8" smaller in diameter than the old one and doesn't firmly stay in the frame! I intend to swap the one I was shipped with a new one. I will update this review with the outcome. I really don't want to spend another $30 for a new press.
===Update 09/05/07=== Amazon sent me the replacement which was noticibly taller, but fit marginally better. After some very gentle and slight bending of the frame, the replacement beaker fit much better. After a few rinses of hot water (which they say loosens and forms the glass slightly... for what it's worth) the beaker was nice and snug once again.

Saved me from purchasing a whole new french press. I was unsure if it would fit my Starbucks 8-cup french press but it is an exact replacement.

Still conflicting info on website description,
By Robert Smith "Bob" (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Glass Replacement Beaker (Kitchen)
There is some incorrect/conflicting info on the Amazon website. Bodum's website lists model 1580-10 as 7" x 3-3/4". Amazon's page for "Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Replacement Beaker, Glass" shows the model as 1508-10 and the "Product Dimensions: 7.3 x 4.2 x 4.2 inches ; 12.3 ounces" which is not only wrong in itself (12.3 ounces is obviously wrong) but the dimensions are for the larger Bodum model 1512-10. So, if I buy this replacement carafe, do I get the right model or the right dimensions, since one or the other is wrong? Most of the info listed points to the 1508-10, but if they ship the larger one, who's to blame, them or me? Caveat emptor. For $20 it wouldn't be worth my time to return/replace, so I'm going to order direct from Bodum and avoid the problem. Sorry Amazon, you let me down this time, even if it was your vendors supplying the (wrong) information.

Too Easily Broken,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bodum 34-Ounce Coffee Press Glass Replacement Beaker (Kitchen)
I confess that I love my Bodum coffee press. But the beaker just breaks way too easily. Today, I was using a brand new one, and was stirring, contrary to the instructions, with a metal spoon. It was just a short handled tea spoon. I clicked the side of the beaker, and a quarter-sized piece of the glass, at the bottom, just seemed to pop out!
Order these in pairs, and always have an extra or two on standby. And use a wooden or plastic spoon. The manufacturer should do the right thing and make a more substantial beaker.

SInce we manage to ding these on the sink, we purchase them in 3's. Love having the ability to replace the carafe as opposed to an entire system.
