Product Description

Amazon.com Review

The modern cylindrical design on this compact little teakettle makes it look like a museum piece—and, well it might be, as it was created for New York’s Museum of Modern Art shop by designed Carsten Jorgensen. However, this kettle’s form also has a function: its slightly wider base directs heat upward so water boils 50 percent faster than in other teakettles. In fact, it takes only 8 minutes to boil about 2 pints of water, although the Osiris can hold a maximum capacity of 64 ounces or 2 quarts. The Osiris is made of brilliantly polished stainless steel, which matches any kitchen décor. The pot has a lift-off lid on top for refilling with water and a stay-cool handle for safe lifting from the stove. The triangular-shaped spout doesn’t have a whistle to alert you when water is boiling so it’s advised to stick close by when this teakettle is on the stove. --Cristina Vaamonde

1.0 out of 5 stars New Manufacturing is CHEAP!, January 11, 2007

This review is from: Bodum Osiris Stovetop Teakettle (Kitchen)
I owned the same kettle for 5 years. I finally decided to replace it last August (it was stained white -- water marks, that was all). The new kettle arrived and the handle seemed flimsy and loose. I tightened the screws on the outside. It worked temporarily. Today, one side of the handle fell off completely, WHILE I WAS POURING THE BOILING WATER! This tea kettle is dangerous and very poorly constructed. I would not recommend buying it.

NOTE (1/11/06) -- I called Bodum customer service and they very kindly told me they would replace my tea kettle. I appreciate this attention to the problem.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wobbly handle, January 26, 2005

I love the look of this kettle, but the handle is hinged to the body, and when I pour from it the kettle swings back and forth dangerously; I've burned myself a couple of times. It's a shame that such care was taken with the aesthetics when the functional design is so poor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indestructable Kettle, September 10, 2005
This review is from: Bodum Osiris Stovetop Teakettle (Kitchen)
This is the second kettle of this model that we bought. The old one has been burned without water so many times that finally the handle melted. The Bodum kettle is almost indestructable if you forget to take it off the stove for say... an hour. It has literally been red hot several times due to carelessness on our part. Nonetheless, It never leaked, cracked, or distorted. It always cleans up like new, and boils water faster than most other kettles. It is simplicity and function. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want a great looking kettle that you just cannot break, this is it.
